What's a Good Blog-Hosting Site For a Beginner?

Hope this is the right forum to ask this--I looked, and couldn't come up with any better.

Hm... LynnTerry, from the Self-Starters Weekly Tips Forums recommended I take the Baby plan at HostGator, which seemed reasonable to me to take. Then, she also recommended a certain coupon, which resulted in raising the price by a few hundred dollars.

I already own a domain. What should I do, for web-hosting? HostGator good? I've also been recommended SiteGround. Key thing is, I'm looking for good tech support, in the event of a crash.

And cheapness, of course; I am under budget, you know.

Just makin' sure.

    Don't go by recommendation alone.

Good tech support - does this mean you want 24/7 phone access? There is a key for you to look for.

How many domains are you planning to host?

How much space and bandwidth do you think you'll need for the first year?

Is the host you pick easy to move out of should you need to move in a year from now?

    What is your actual budget?

Is it just wordpress? Some hosts are actually optimized for this - but it's not necessarily the deciding factor.

How much time have you spent on hosting review type sites and actual forums that discuss hosting as their specialty?

You can try Luminate. They used to be called "Yahoo Webhosting". It's what i use. I love them and their tech support is amazing.

When it comes to hosting it really pays to do your own research.

However, I recommend hostgator in terms of hosting.

Since the Brent decided to sell Hostgator, the customer service is rather slow at Hostgator these days. I would stay away from them. You can't go wrong with Bluehost though. Like someone else explained, hosting is one of those things were each person will experience something different. You will have to try the companies out yourself.

Stay aways from Hostgator, monster, bluehost etc... they are a big group of holding companies or whatever they are and they are. I would recommend a smaller company you can get on the phone asap. Best way is talk to some friends and find out what they have and try a few of them and hop around.

Also try moving your hosting pretend you got shut down and restore on a new hosting company. You should do this anyway and this will help you figure out how they function.

Okay; I am now towards choosing Site Ground as my webhoster, if no one has any outstanding objections on why I shouldn't use them.

For now, I am trying to host only one domain, noitartst.com, for starters, and while i hear that I'll want to trade up if I start getting more than 10,000 visitors a month, or something like that, it's good for a beginner, I hear, and it costs under $50 for a full year's package.

I couldn't find any email on SiteGround, but I could find it number, and the answered, quick enogh, though i was no hold, briefly, They off er year plans, against hostGator's three-year ones. for my savings, at under $2,000, I think I'll take Site Ground, with its smaller price, and time, commitment.

Prides itself for being good with Wordpress, too. 24/7 phone access, and in the event of transferring to another host, they say I can either do it myself downloading files, or I else can have the other company do it for me.

Seems pretty user-friendly, all-around; with reasonable diligence done, I'll order their services, on the morrow.

    Thanks for your input.

I using Site ground....I still don't know why I happen to choose them.
Is slightly a bit expensive ....but their support is really there...can get them 24hr 365 days ..

I don't mind ..pay a bit more as Support can easily get it..this is important..

People generally recommend hostgator and for beginners i would rather prefer ipage for a few reasons.

    1. I've found the quality to be as good as hostgator
    2. The cost of getting started with ipage is very low compared to hostgator with them often running promos and discounts more than 80%.
    3. I even get extra goodies in marketing and security that i need to be paying for in services like godaddy.

As a newbie, it involves a lot of learning, doing and re-doing, for that reason, i would prefer keeping the cost low as much as possible without compromising on the quality if possible and if given an option i would go for the one which gives me most benefits for the lowest price.

Hm...iPage, vs. SiteGround. $3.75 a month, v. $3.95. Ipage may be slightly cheaper, but at this point, I think I've done enough research,

I called up iPage, and was disconnected. I've called SiteGround three, of four times, nothing like that has happened to me. HostGator is the site-hosting bellwether, and it takes advantage of that by granting use of its commodity to a higher fee. SiteGround has a good reputation for customer service, and is cheaper, with my personal experience with them, excellent, as well.

    Paralysis by analysis, no more.

    SiteGround, it is.

SiteGround's working out for me, so far. My blog site should be coming online in the next 24-hours, now I've pointed it in the right direction--I think. If not, then I guess I'll need to call GoDaddy to see what's up, won't I?

Oh, and I will need to renew my domain, in a couple months. To make it private costs eight bucks more than otherwise--is it worth it?

In case you are still researching, I recommend HawkHost. I have been using them since 2011 without any problems. Their support is excellent. You can get started with their hosting for around 3 or 4 bucks a month for their most basic hosting.

Namecheap also offers excellent hosting as well, aside from domain registration.
