18 Tips to Use the Warrior Forum and to Help Build an Internet Marketing Business

Just wanted to give back a little. And share some tips I've learned from my own experience. I do think the Warrior Forum is a great investment for your internet marketing business and education. So, in no particular order, here's some thoughts when using this forum, and specifically mining the knowledge here to pick up some skills. And, also some advice for when you're trying out what you're learning here.

1. This forum is a wealth of information and connections. Don't take it lightly. Take it seriously, invest some time here focused on growth. Be committed long-term. Treat it like a side business, not a side hobby. Hobbies don't pay. Businesses pay.

2. Use the search features. Most questions and topics have already been covered. So type in some keywords and see what others are saying on that topic.

3. Be open to learn, but don't believe everything someone says. Lots of people here just puking out posts don't know what they're talking about. Follow some good folks. Read the sticky posts. Don't give spammers your time.

4. Learn from some WSOs, but don't collect WSOs. Over buying and collecting courses won't make you money. Best to buy one course and then implement what you learn before buying another one.

5. There is no magic bullet. Period. Everything takes time and work. So spend a few minutes a day here, and grow your knowledge over time. Don't waste time searching for the secret pot of gold. The guy who's selling that just has lots of OTOs to sell you.

6. If you want to hide online, fine. I get it. But, at some point it's best to just be who you are. Put yourself out there. Use your name, real contact info, and promote yourself. Don't be scared to post under your name or business and let people know how to connect with you. It's the relationships you meet that will be the biggest transformation in your life. Psuedo names are hard to connect with. And ultimately, people want to do business with other people.

7. Ask Questions. Even if they're stupid questions. Everybody has to start somewhere. And nobody knows everything. So ask. There's no penalty for asking. Sure, you might get a little sarcasm, but if you're afraid of that you won't succeed online anyway.

8. Don't worry about trying to get backlinks off the forum. Those techniques will get you banned. This forum is for learning and collaborating, not for your own personal SEO.

9. Get involved offline if you can. Find a local warrior meetup, or go to a conference. I understand not everyone can, but try to connect with people offline too. It's great to have a few friends you actually shook hands with. Down the road, that will mean more to you than any online forum.

10. Play to your strengths, and shore up your weaknesses. There's lots of ways to make money online. But do what you like, and what you're good at. Focus on getting better at what you have a natural talent or inclination for. Yes, learn new stuff and get new skills, but if you suck at programming don't beat your head against the wall trying to be a programmer. You're time is precious. Invest it wisely.

11. Don't get sucked into spammy methods. There's always some guy claiming he's killing it with digg or Instagram or Pinterest or PBNs or whatever is the newest thing. Stick with proving methods and the most popular social media sites. Don't worry about learning some autoposting technique on Craig'sList if you haven't build up a following on Facebook. Market where the people are. And play by the rules. Getting accounts banned or shut down just sets you back. So learn the rules and culture, grow slow, build for the long haul.

12. Always do a common sense check: Ask yourself "Are lots of people making money doing this?" If so, then it may be a good method to learn. But if it's a weird niche or spammy technique, then unless you just really really like that area, don't waste your time. Big markets are where it's at. Don't worry about saturation. There's no such thing. Big markets have lots of buyers, and there's always room for you to sell stuff and find customers.

13. Focus on Value not on Sales. Sure, we all what to make money, and usually that means selling products or services. But you can't convince anyone to buy if you're only focused on just getting them to buy. Focus on giving value. Focus on their experience. Make sure you're over delivering in value so that people can't wait to buy your offer. Then you'll have good testimonials and feedback. That's the real currency online. Offer a genuine value + good price + great testimonials = profits.

14. Don't get stuck on small things. If you're wasting time struggling with a paypal checkout process, then hire someone else to set it up for you. Major on the majors. Minor on the minors. Don't let something frustrate you and stall your business because you want to figure it out yourself. There's plenty of outsources who can fill in the gaps for you. Minor issues will hassle you and become major issues if you let them. So don't let them.

15. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid. Man is this so true. And especially when you're starting out. Don't over complicate or try to do too much. Just because some guru recommends a 7 stage upsell/downsell funnel doesn't mean you have to have one too. Just start small. Start with a free offer and and optin form. Get good at that. Then add follow up messages with an affiliate offer. Everyone can do that. So you do that. Get that profitable, and then add to it. Complication is the best way to work hard, get frustrated, and never actually get your business off the ground.

16. Positive thinking is not junk science. It is real. Period. Even professional athletes learn that they have to train and discipline their minds just like their bodies. So make sure you're spending time feeding your brain positive messages and pictures which will motivate you and fine tune your subconscious. You don't have to be a Tony Robbins groupie, but you should listen to your own words and thoughts and ask if you're sabotaging your own success. If you're negativity is preventing you from seeing the successful path, then you're wandering around in the dark. Positive thinking will shine a light ahead and help you find a solid path to success.

17. Avoid dog fights. You'll see some people arguing with each other, and sometimes it gets nasty and personal. Sure, the mods will take care of most of it. But it's not worth your time and energy to get involved. In fact, it will distract you if you let it. Everybody's got a belly button, and everybody's got an opinion. So what! Don't get sucked in to thinking your opinion matters, or someone else's opinion matters. What matters is your business. Are you learning? Are you growing? Are you spending your time here wisely?

18. Finally, take action. Yeah I know, everyone says that. Well it's true. You only learn by doing. Reading doesn't count. Webinars don't count. Buying another info product doesn't count. Chatting on Facebook doesn't count. What are you doing today that is building your business? Are you learning Wordpress? Are you creating a landing page? Are you shooting video for your own info product or course? Are you creating graphics or salescopy? Keep track of the time you spend just sitting at the computer. And keep track of the time your spend actually working on product creation. You might be surprised at how little percentage of your time is actually spent on building your business. That's the ruthless honestly you need in order to focus, be more disciplined, and get better. Yes, if you work at it, you will get better. So start today. Do something now. Do something every day. A year from now, you'll have built something, and learned a lot.

And a few more

19. Shiny Object Syndrome. Don't get sucked into buying the latest wizz-bang software this week. They'll be another even better shinier software next week. And you'll have to buy that too. At some point, you learn that the only guys making money with it are the guys who are selling it. The users aren't usually getting the results they claim.

Some software is good. But most is just a waste of money and time. You'll waste more time trying to learn it, get responses from the support desk, and generally having lackluster results. And in the end, realize that if you'd just invested your time developing core skills and creating more content you'd be farther ahead. Truth. Like it, or not. It's your money.

20. Sticky posts: Why would the moderators spend time picking out the best posts and put those at the top for you? Uh, maybe because they're that important. If you want to use this forum, then don't ignore the stickys. Most of your questions have already been answered there. Stickys are designed for one reason: To help you. They make your life easier. They shorten the learning curve. They get you the answers faster. They save you time having to post a question. Basically, they're sticky for a reason.

21. Rules: Life is full of rules. Even the WF has rules. But they're not meant to curtail your creativity. The rules are meant to help keep the WF productive and meaningful for all. The rules, like it or not, do create a better experience for all members. What would happen if there were no rules here? The forum would get so overrun by spam and scammers it would be quick death. So read the rules, respect the rules, and then we all enjoy the benefits of this community long-term.

Life is short. So just go for it.

Only posts for selling WSOs cost $20. That is where you upload your own product/course to sell to other members. Except for classified ads, most other posts in other subject areas are free. Like in this main discussion area. All posts are free.

Hey Bro ,It depends on the Section you are posting ,If you are opening a thread inside the section you have replied its free ,But if you are opening a thread in classified section where you are publicly promoting your product or as an affiliate ,you will be paying a small fee of 20 $ and if done correctly you can a heavy surge of traffic for pennies ,Hope this helps

    Thanks Jeff.

When I was looking at a checklist for putting on the back of the picture frames we sell I chose an 18 point checklist...
    https://www.fixaframe.com.au/Custom-Framing

    Why?

Because my business is located near a strong Chinese community and anything 8 is good luck.

Not that you discuss luck much in your OP but you tell it like it is.

Any success...even lucky success takes work and commitment.

Thank you for sharing your experiences to help others who think there is a shortcut.

I've been looking at threads for about 10 minutes this morning - including the "newbie" questions in this thread....

In 10 minutes today I've found 2 threads totally unintelligible, a few answers that are senseless and a bitly affiliate link in the sig of a 6 month member.

I'd make a 19 pt tip list....with #1 being READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU POST.

Read the rules of this forum - of any section you want to start a thread in or post in - and read and understand the terms and conditions of sites and services you sign up to use.

Tell me all about it Kay. It's awesome to find a thread that is loaded with value from someone whose sole motivation for posting os to teach others and to help them succeed. Now that's what this forum is supposed to be about. I think a lot of folks have forgotten that, and only look at the WF as a place to profit off of and get traffic from. I doubt when Allen started this forum it was because he wanted to make a place for newbies to promote their signatures and learn how to sell WSOs.

I see a lot of people asking about forum marketing on here and whether it still works and how to do it, etc.

Well, the way to do it is to provide immense value and not try to promote yourself. If you provide huge value and help others, you will attract people to you without even trying. In other words, don't try to "market" on here at all. Just make thoughtful, interesting, and helpful posts.

And for the love of God, would somebody PLEASE put a ban on the "if you had this much money" posts?

Luck is able to be made by those who work hard at "making it".

After reading Jeff's 18 points I feel motivated enough to stop standing on the "on ramp" watching the traffic, I'm gunna put my blinker on and join the highway flow.
Being anonymous is easy on such a busy highway and makes it easy to observe the individual vehicles and what they are doing and how they are doing it, but I think now it is time to stand out in the crowd and own my business.
I'm an amateur photographer developing a pathway to being professional. Jeff's 18 points have given me the extra impedes to give it the final push.

Thanks Jeff for a very informative and inspiring post. I appreciate you "giving back". It's the best way to say thanks to everyone that has had an influence on you getting to where you are.
Really appreciate you post, and thanks again.

Amazing post, Jeff, and very true! Especially the 'magic bullet' syndrome. New and experienced Warriors alike should realize there is no such thing. Everything has pretty much been done before. Just repackaged and innovated upon.

But #13 stuck out for me. This one point will make or break any and every business.

If there is such thing as a 'magic bullet' -- it might as well be this point. Focus on Value not on Sales.

If new Warriors don't believe it, I'll whip together a landing page, mini course, free ebook and paid ebook to get you to buy this from me... and I'll teach you the same thing, LOL.

Kidding aside -- when you exert your effort on 'the creation and delivery of value' as opposed to shoving your product down people's throats, that's when you start to see sales happen.

You'll also find you have more self confidence in yourself and your business when you focus on value creation as opposed to guns blazing shooting your products at everyone.

    Thank you, Jeff!

Excellent list Jeff. I like #1 and #18 best. When I started Internet marketing I used to come to the forum all of the time and just read and learn.

However, unlike a lot of people I got motivated by what I was learning and started taking action right away. I tried different things and lucky for me some of them worked.

I credit the Warrior Forum for a lot of my early success. Your 18 point tips list can really help people if they learn and act.

Jeff, I think you've touched on a real, but rarely discussed point, which is that sometimes getting lucky early on helps a lot. It helps motivate you to keep going. This is key. If you struggle and don't get results, it's easy to loose heart and give up. But if you can at least realize some results, even very small results, it helps you believe that more is possible.

One way to help yourself 'get lucky' is to not read just anything and everything, but pick a few, or even one, very successful online marketer and closely follow his/her training. And especially if they have an active mentoring group. This can help you so much.

Oddly enough, I did not find luck early on, or seek out a mentor. And it was hard. Looking back, I wish I'd taken this advice. I think it would have helped me get rolling with results a lot quicker.

I credit the Warrior Forum for a lot of my early success. Your 18 point tips list can really help people if they learn and act.

    11. Don't get suck into spammy methods.

Life is short. So just go for it.

    -Jeff
18 is where the magic happens. You can only learn so much from reading or watching videos, once you start doing you will learn so much more

I think there are some great tips here. The one I find greatest of all is "You Learn By Doing". Far to often many get caught up in buying the next thing.

You certainly need to invest in yourself and your business. You certainly need to always be learning and growing. But if you never apply the lessons you have studied you will never feel you know what you are doing... and will therefore always feel you are inadequate for the task, and this will lead to...

      S.O.S. = Shiny Object Syndrome

I have almost tens years of teaching experience working with adults. I have seen it over and over again. Someone has a genuine desire to learn something. They get book after book, buy online digital products. And some even go to very expensive live courses.

After all their time, money and expense, they end up feeling tired, frustrated, angry and disillusioned. They feel they are no closer to learning what they have been studying then when they first started.

The one thing they have not done is taken action. They keep waiting to feel they know what they are doing before starting to take action. They keep buying courses and studying and trying to feel they know enough to get started.

If this is you... the reason you feel you do not know what you are doing is because you have not started doing it. The act of doing will make you more familiar, and with familiarity comes the feeling that you know what you are doing.

As long as you only read, watch, buy more... you will never get that element of familiarity that will allow you to actually feel you know what you are doing.

If you want success in 2016... Start Doing.

SOS is sooooo true! Sometimes I don't come here because even though I am very focussed on how I generate revenue, just seeing a couple of WSOs is entirely distracting. "Oooh" I say to myself, that could be interesting.

Then, I have to back away, back away slowly! I bought one yesterday for curiosity-value. Nothing exceptional in it, not at all, but there was one tiny nugget I hadn't thought of before, so it was worth my 5 bucks. But -- can't lose focus! Can't get distracted!

Thanks for the OP - was a generous "give-back".

`Awesome post Jeff. Thanks. I agree with point number 15 KISS- i believe keeping it simple will help you progress faster with less frustration. point 16 on positive thinking is critical for me it has gotten me this far without it i would have given up a long time ago because creating a business online does not come easy. It takes a lot of hard work, focus and discipline and taking action which is point number 18, massive action. one speaker said, "To know and not to do, is the same as not knowing"

For the right product/offer the banner advertising can be excellent traffic.

  • It really takes effort and a strong will to learn something new. The WF site is not so hard to navigate and there is always the search feature to look for a specific topic. Make it a habit to do a research first or simply read what was already posted before asking questions or posting something that is already discussed.

Massive post! Massive value. Amazing post. I'm fairly new with online marketing and warrior forum but after reading this, it gave me an all new perspective. Come to think of it, being a warrior acts like being in a private organization. An online organization. You get to coordinate brainstorm and offer suggestion with your colleagues. I agree that the relationships you gain from here will be one of your greatest asset. The knowledge you can get here is highly valuable and very helpful - personally and for business. It is like your private tutor or mentor. In a nutshell, Warrior Forum Rocks! I'm glad I made it here.

I am truely amazed at the positive responses you have received from, mostly, long standing forum members...this just shows one thing about experience and the ability to share quality content like u have posted...some people will pay good money for this..

For newbies..this types of threads are great as not all newbies have STACKS of cash or credit available to be involved in HIGH TICKET sales...the school fees that we pay is costly and thus we need all the help we can get to make this business work...

    thank you again..
