Should you use a tripwire or not?

When I check out the top selling products on clickbank they're usually VSLs and they go right for the sale with upsells.

Digital marketer insists on a tripwire first and then go for the sale later.

The Venus factor and all the other top selling products start around 40-100 bucks. They don't bother with a $7 offer first

Is it worth it to have a tripwire? I heard those top selling products are doing tens of thousands of dollars A DAY.

How come they don't bother with a tripwire?

    Hey

    You need to understand even
trying to sell a $5 isnt easy,

The only wat you really can
sell is by building your own list...

When i mean by building your list
is to build a relationship with your
list by providing them great value..

People don't buy the product but
they will buy into you if done correctly...

I call it the KLT Factor

    K- know
    L- like
    T- Trust

    OK,
When someone opts in to your list by you giving
away something in value then all i really do is have
a bridge page in between the optin page and the sale
    page...

Another word for bridge page is also known as a
relationship page where you have a video of your self
welcoming them so they know who's list they are optin
in to... that will increase the open rate as they KNOW
    who you are...

Give more value to build trust and try
    help them solve their problem.

If they see you helping them then the
    like and trust comes in.

Then once you think you have built that
relation then you can promote a product
that you know that will benefit and give
    results to your list....

that is the basic way to start selling but
don't promote something you don't know
whether it will get your list results...

Another great way to sell is to give bonus
which is a great value for free if they
    purchase from your link...

They must be on many of our list so why
buy from you and not others....

    Bonus do work...

    Hope that helped my friend....

You examples are high converting products outside the IM niche. But even in the IM niche many successful coaches have a $47 or $97 trip wire.

The $7 lead product or very cheap front end product came from an earlier in the age of IM and a specific strategy mainly used in the IM niche.

These days every lead IM product is $7 or $1 because people are desperate to build a buyers list.

So they are slightly different strategies for doing the same thing - grabbing a lead with a low-ball sale to get them on your buyers list where you can upsell them. It isn't necessary to low-ball a $7 product if you have the authority and following to lead with a $47 product.

A lot of the $47 products lead up to monthly member sites or $5,000 coaching programs.

The other thing is these are affiliate products. Most good affiliates will have a good list and pre-sell well and they'll get a cut of that $47.

The question is: how do your buyers buy?

Understand that, and you'll know whether to use a tripwire or not.

The only real answer is to test.

What works in one niche will bomb in another.

    That being said...

It usually doesn't hurt to solve ONE specific problem your target market says it is experiencing, and is actively looking for the solution of.

Then you can get on with selling the bigger program.

The bad result you can get is devaluing yourself...by giving away worthwhile information for pennies on the dollar.

Reducing your expertise to a $7 ebook can a bad idea.

Many CB vendors do have tripwires etc. but on other domains/servers so you might not even be able to find them. What you often see is only their final sales page and not the whole funnel they use for their personal sales.
