How to monetize current viral post

Ok, so I have a blog that follows current events and I've written a post that has gone crazy. I currently have 530 people on the site and I've spent no money or time link building. It's gone through forums and now people are coming through search.

I have adsense on my site and so far I've made £2.50 from around 4000 page views. That's 0.1% CTR which is outrageous. Is there any quick wins I can do as traffic is going up and I don't want to miss out on this.

All traffic is from the USA I may add.

  • Definitely think about CPA (I use to be a member of Peerfly). I've made some good income from them when I had a viral site.

Other than that try to create some sort of content upgrade that you can add to your post which will help you start collecting email addresses.

You have to realise that some things cant really be monetized well. The latest celeb story isnt going to have visitors who are looking to buy anything for instance.

I sure hope you're capturing their emails because if you are, you can easily sell anything related to your niche to them. Lets say an ebook or video course or tshirts, etc. I would keep posting content and get as many return visitors as possible. You can also sell affiliate products.

As others have said, collect their e-mails might be a good idea.

But what is this website about? Is it like a news websites? If it is, it might be really hard to collect their e-mails and send them offers actually.

You have to find a way to understand what exactly all these people coming to your website have in common. Are they all young? Are they all interested in the same thing?
