Hi Warriors!

When it comes to getting websites and blogs indexed by the search engines, I've read that "PINGING" your site can be very helpful.

The questions I have for you guys are:

(1.) Have you really found PINGING to work well for you?

(2.) HOW OFTEN do you recommend pinging your site or blogs for BEST results?

(Is there such thing as pinging TOO OFTEN, or TOO INFREQUENTLY???)

What do you think?

THANKS!

I just finished adding a page to my site and backlinked to 7 sites .. then pinged the backlinks ...

Result = 1st page on Google for that keyword ...

I think it works but the results depend on a number of factors.

Absolutely. The point of "Pinging" is to drive the SE spiders to your site or to where ever you direct them. You really don't need to ping. But it does work. Its like a warning "Hey we just updated check us out!".

Do you mean backling FROM 7 sites TO your site? or backling your page To the 7 sites?

(please clarify the direction of the linking, from where, to where? )

You can ping your sites by going to: Blog and Ping Tool - Use Pingler.com to Drive Traffic your Blogs and Websites it will ping 90 plus sites but be sure and ping the actual post each time you add content to your blog...it does help.

    1. Yes, primarily for indexing of new or updated content

    2. When you have new or updated content

    3. Only ping new content or updated content. Overpinging can be a problem but it generally takes an automated ping program that overloads a server to draw a ban these days. Most newer ping scripts have filtering logic that rejects repeated manual pings, such as making an immediate correction to a WordPress post, but it doesn't penalize you permenently.

Only ping when you have updated your site or blog.

Pinging is the entire reason why wordpress posts are so much better than regular HTML webpages. Pinging does work and I recommend you download MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer for your wordpress blog becuase this tool will help you to NOT excessive ping everytime you change or update a post.
