How Do Webcomics Get Indexed?

Hello Warriors,

So I always wondered how webcomics like "The Oatmeal" get indexed by the search engines?

For instance, when I do a search for a topic/keyword and The Oatmeal shows up in the results, how does that happen when the site is mainly composed of images?

I know about using alt tags, title tags, etc., but is that enough to get indexed without actual written content?

Thanks!

    The simple answer is backlinks.

You mentioned "the oatmeal," that's very easy to answer.

A lot of bloggers were fans of the oatmeal would link to that site using the phrase "the oatmeal" pretty straightforward.

If you have a web comic that you are trying to promote, my best advice for you would be to include some text descriptions regarding the cartoon or comic graphic on the page the description is on.

It doesn't have to be very lengthy as long as there's some text there.

Another way to work around this is to have a comment section in higher outsourced commenters to post comments that are related to the topics included in your images.
