What To Do If You're A Newbie And You Want To Make A Solid Income Online

Simplicity is your best friend.

If you want to make money online, you have to learn how to simplify everything.
Break everything down into small steps, knowing that those small steps will lead up to a big achievement or result.

Personally, I recommend building a business around solving a universal problem that affects people negatively.

The big universal problems that are very profitable include, dating/relationship problems, weight loss/health problems, and money/business problems. Each one of those problems can be broken down into smaller more specific problems.

It's important to find a specific problem that you're going to solve. The success of your online business will be dependent on how well you can solve that problem and how many people you can solve that problem for.

When people have a problem that affects them in a negative and emotional way, they will do anything they can to solve that problem (which means they will pay you for the solution).

Knowing this you can decide on how you're going to solve this specific problem.

Are you going to provide the solution with your own product?

Are you going to provide the solution with your own service?

Are you going to provide the solution by leveraging someone else's product or service (affiliate marketing)?

You could even do a combination of the three, but it would be wise to start with one.
Your offer must be a real problem solver.

If you can find an affiliate product to get behind, then great, but you must make sure the product truly delivers on all promises being made.

Once you decide how you're going to solve the problem (with your product or promoting a product as an affiliate), next you need to learn as much as you can about your niche and your target audience.

Once you do your research you will have a firm understanding of where your target audience hangs out.

Your target audience may be hanging on specific forums, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc.....

Once you figure out where your target audience is, you need to get involved in those platforms and communities and position yourself as an authority in your niche.

Provide your target audience with free advice, actionable content, and step-by-step methods they can use to solve their problems within your niche.

Some people may want more detailed or actionable info from you which you will provide in your products or the products you promote.

To help with branding, you should create a blog or a main site where people can learn more about you, and also learn more about your recommended products and services.

On your site you can have an opt-in form where people can sign up to your email list where you can send them more free content and promote your products via email.

From that point you can look at more ways to monetize your efforts, such as
• Paying for traffic (using Facebook ads, Bing ads, Solo ads, YouTube video ads, etc....).
• Adding more products to your funnel.
• Providing 1-on-1 coaching.
• Testing your pages and offers and improve conversions.
• Partnering up with other authorities in your niche/market and launch a brand-new product or service.

There are so many ways to scale your online business, but you have to start with a good foundation.

This is the exact blueprint I would follow and recommend for anyone starting out or anyone who wants to build a solid online business and make lots of money online.
Now let's get into specifics. There are three different ways I make money in my online business:

• Product sales
• Affiliate marketing
• 1-on-1 coaching

Let me show you how you can combine product sales, affiliate marketing, and 1-on-1 coaching which will result in multiple streams of income.

So, we've already talked about how you need to provide solutions to problems.

Well, one way to provide a solution to a problem, is by packaging the solution up into a digital product.

You could create an ebook, video course, audio course, membership site, or a combination of an ebook, videos, and audios.

I recommend you choose the product type that will allow your customers to get the most benefit.

For example, if you're teaching people how to make connections with the opposite sex through conversation, you might want to make a video course where you can give a visual demonstration of how this should be done. An ebook or audio course would work, but it wouldn't be as beneficial as a video course with visual demonstrations of a successful connection through conversation.

Next, you need to outline your product.

Start with an introduction, and then follow-up the introduction with step 1, step 2, so on and so forth.

Outline your product in such a way, that if someone was to go through and follow the steps in order, he/she should be able to solve the specific problem at hand.

Once you're done with outline you will need to create the actual product. Simply start with a main idea for each step, and fill in the product with the details.

After the completion of the product you will need to create a sales page. A sales page is normally a letter or video that explains what the products is about and why the individual may need it.

Once the sales page is created it's time to start marketing the product.

Some of the ways you can market your product include: affiliate recruitment, PPC, Facebook advertising, Bing advertising, Solo ads, YouTube video marketing, content marketing, email marketing, banner advertising, etc....

When people buy your product you want to ensure that you add them to an autoresponder (Getresponse ,Aweber , or Mailchimp to name a few). Once they're added to your autoresponder you can email them in the future.

Knowing this, you can setup a series of automated emails promoting related offers as an affiliate, and you can promote your 1-on-1 coaching services.

That is exactly what I do.

I sell my own products, then I market related products and services via email to my list of email subscribers.

Once you have a decent funnel of products and services to promote you can focus most of your time on marketing and increasing your conversions.

Like I said earlier, you want to keep things simple.

Simplicity is your best friend.

Yeah when things are complicated it can be discouraging and overwhelming, that is why it's best to break things down into small chunks and take a simple step-by-step approach.

Posted this in another thread but it's buried there and people need to see it as it fits in with what you're saying. I agree with your "keep it simple" approach--people get sucked into a technological solution and that isn't the answer. We're surrounded by technology. Almost nobody is making any money.

    So...

What I've seen over the years here is people learn of an idea: the magic bullet (of the week). They put it into action ONCE and it doesn't work (for whatever reason...poor quality traffic; insufficient traffic--key issue, that one; lousy conversion tool; insufficient followup; poor target market definition; etc.)

And then they announce, "It DIDN'T WORK!!" to the world.

They really have convinced themselves that because they tried this thing one time, one way (imagine, trying only a single headline and then saying the whole project was a failure) it doesn't work. Ever. For anyone.

Then they jump on after the next shiny object...the new magic bullet of the week.

That's the silliness I'm fighting against here. It's rampant.

Many variables are involved in online marketing. Basic math is required to be good at online marketing. Based on the evidence I've seen, people want to remain ignorant of both and yet still be successful.

    People: that ain't gonna happen.

Stick with something longer than three days. Test one variable change at a time. Yes, keep your eyes open for what works and what doesn't, and why.

Imagine there's a fence you have to jump.

That's the fence you need to get over to start making sales and being successful (BTW, did anyone ever tell you Making Sales is the RESULT, not the guts of, internet marketing? Kinda changes your perspective...there are all these things that need to be done and go right BEFORE you make a sale).

Now imagine all the wannapreneurs, here they are, running full tilt at that fence. Some of them don't even know the fence is there. Many underestimate how tall it is. But there they are, full of false and highly temporary enthusiasm based on some magic bullet they heard about and have awkwardly (how else are you gonna do it the first time) put into practice.

    And WHAMMY!

Sure are a lot of broken bodies fallen at the foot of and atop that fence.

This is called, in professional marketing terminology, Barrier To Entry.

Most people lack the perspective, the stick-to-itiveness to pass that Barrier To Entry.

What does this mean for you, the individual?

Don't be like the herd. The herd is all beat up and broken in front of that fence.

If you can behave differently, and get over that fence, you'll be Inside.

And Inside is where the money is.

Once you figure it out...how to get over that fence, that Barrier To Entry...you keep that knowledge forever. You know what the process is.

Oh sure, some little techie this or that may change. A variable may need a dial or level adjustment. But you know what the variables are.

Stick with it. Measure and manage. Be intelligent.

Blindly and mindlessly following magic bullets is stupid. You'll end up crashed on the fence every time. Even if you do "succeed" you'll have no idea how to duplicate what you just did.

Excellent post. 100% agree with what you're saying here mainly because I know what you're talking about from experience. I found myself buying shiny product after product, and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't making all the money I was promised in those products I bought.

Eventually, I stumbled across a business model that made sense and I decided to block out everything else and focus on that one business model. That was the best thing I ever did because it set the foundation that led me to building a solid income and scaling up to the point of replacing my 9-5.

Yes Claire, it starts inside by making a decision, and following through on that decision even in times when motivation/inspiration fades away.

I think the word Simplicity is underused in describing what Newbies need to focus on in beginning. Of course there are other variables involved in the equation but this is an excellent starting point

Yeah man I'm pretty simple-minded myself so I tend to simplify everything I do because otherwise it's easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged.

Once I learned to simplify online marketing my income and success sky-rocketed and I believe if newbies would learn to simplify and break down a profitable business model, success would be a lot easier to attain.

As usual, solid advice. For my own product I've launched recently, I had the backing of affiliates.

You're right about the shiny object syndrome big time. I spent a lot of last year chasing the quick fix, and to no surprise, it got me nowhere.

Congrats on your amazing launch! I'm sure you found a way to simplify the process of launching your product into small steps and that is what led to your success.

It seems like shiny object syndrome is just a part of the journey that almost everyone goes through at one point, but once you go through it you realize how stupid it is and you make the transition from serial consumer to value producer.

Yeah you definitely have to make the decision to never give up right from the start. If you quit you'll have to live in regret, and I believe that is the true definition of failure.

Great advice. No need to make things more complicated right.

Building a structure "foundation" first. We can't start at the end which is the money part but that is where over 80% of people go. Got it backwords.

I have a product in warriorplus and I am glad with the results I am getting and like you said being able to monetize through affiliate offer, more services or like you said and what I am structuring now is personal coaching and set up!

This is an awesome post Trey. In the beginning I had the same problems as a lot of newbies, I went after any product that promised I would get instant results. It took a little while, but I figure out that there are no "instant" results. It wasn't until I found a problem that needed solved and started solving it that I started making any money online. Once I had that nailed down, I started to scale it up. But keeping it simple was the key! Thank you for reminding me of this. Great post!

Yeah most newbies come into the game looking for instant results. It is possible to get instant results, but without any solid foundation or experience it is very difficult to do. It's similar to buying a piano and expecting to be able to play Fur Elise instantly lol. Or buying a basketball and expecting to dunk like Michael Jordan instantly.
