Another option for you it's Freelancer. Very similar but with much more people and clients, refresh every 5 minutes and you will find tons of new projects.

The negative part is that you have less bids as a free member, but same as Upwork, you can upgrade to a premium where you have more bids per months or you can even buy them.

You can try the warrior for hire (WFH) section of Warrior Forum.

    Check the reviews.

Run small tests before diving in and ordering a big project.

You can try freelancer.com which is slightly expensive for both employers and freelancers, I mean their fees! Fiverr is good option, it all depends on your requirement what you are looking for.

Upwork wr having issues in last few days, but its working fine today and hope it will remain fine.
I had almost lost my contract due to their maintenance fortunately my employer was good and I am still working for him :-)

I use to rec FIVERR years ago... alas, not any more.

Quality is not that great and they added a fee to their service.

OK do we guess that you get that for which you pay. That is always our case.

The best freelancers won't be found on micro-job sites. Do some searching and test some people and when you find good ones, treat them well.

OP, this is perhaps the only answer you should be looking at. If a freelancer is any good, he won't be looking for work in a place where the only way to get a job is to underbid people from 3rd world countries.

Also, expect to pay premium prices if you want premium quality.

I agree with your second statement, which is exactly why I disagree with your first statement. I do reasonably well with Upwork, earning around US$5k-US$8k per year, and while I do bid intelligently, I don't bid pennies on the dollar, either.

You never state whether you are looking to buy or sell services.

In any case, I have personally been very successful at Upwork, both as a buyer and as a seller. It comes down to how well you communicate for each role, and I find it has very little to do with the marketplace itself. I have been able to find both great clients as well as great workers there, and I've yet to find a reason to abandon Upwork.

As far as I know the Upwork is one of the best freelancing market place around the whole world. If you thin it is not good, you can use the Freelancer or, Fiverr. These site also good. They are famous all over the world. Their payment system is also good. Thanks for your advance.

The best way to find a good freelancer is to ask them for a sample of their work. If they refuse, forget about them. If they give you a shitty sample, forget about them... This will weed out most freelancers, and you'll be glad you did because what's remaining is gold. Treat them fairly and reward them with bonuses and you'll have a great team for a long time.

How much did you pay per hour when you hired people from Upwork? As the hourly rate varies a lot depending on the worker.

I use Upwork all the time but dislike their interface.
They are as good as anyone else out there.

I NEVER use the lowest bidder and I take my time and check out all applicants.

Forget fast, easy and cheap if you're outsourcing work for an actual "good" product that you're building a business with.

If you're outsourcing for more crap, what's the difference, use fiverr.

You have to demonstrate worth. Prove to your prospects that you are good at what you do by selling them something. Then follow up on that same customer with your freelancing services. They will know that you are legit because you were able to sell THEM something that is related to your services.

you can find good freelancers from various freelance sites, you just need to be careful when choosing. you should set some criteria for each candidate to pass before hiring.
