Online Sales in Art Niche

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and wanted to just introduce myself. My name is Greg and I've been both creating and selling art for most of my life. Within the last year I've tried to really up my game with my online art sales and it's worked a little but I'm looking to make 2016 a great year.

I'm trying to connect with others that have had success in this niche to see if we can trade some ideas. Let me first start by not rudely promoting anything and just explain what I've done and what I'm doing now.

1. I have a list (be it small) that I use to promote to people on a regular basis. I need to figure out a way to make to grow this.

2. I have an ecomm site where people can purchase directly only.

3. I have tried a few (2) Facebook ads and it's not done much other than clicks.

4. I have created an affiliate program and I sell exclusively through my own site to not compete with affiliates. I'd like to figure out a way to get more affiliates.

If anyone has had any success in the original art niche I'd love to hear about it or connect with you.

That about sums it up and I look forward to connecting with you all!

It is just a matter of getting you stuff out there in front of potential customers.
I have had the best results from Etsy, Folksy, facebook fanpages, pinterest and finally eBay in that order. Surpringly free tutorials and demonstrations can help as well, especially getting your name out there and do not forget that self publishing a small book with Lulu, Google and Kindle will lend you some "Authority" and give you something else to sell!

I would also start networking with other artists. Money is made with relationships.

Join communities, get to know people and work out arrangements that are mutually beneficial.

Build up your social networks. Instagram and Pinterest would be great for you. Get enough people repinning and sharing your artwork and you'll develop a bigger following which increases the likely hood of getting sales.

I also don't know what kind of art you create but if you can create prints and sell them at a cheaper price it might get the $$ flowing. People are probably more likely to spend 10-20 bucks on a poster/print than a few hundred from a site they aren't familiar with online.
