Best Way to Monetize a DIY Product

Have you checked out the other woodworking plans that are out there and what they sell for.

Check out Ted's woodworking plans on click bank as they seem to be a top selling similar product.

If you want to get a real return you should think about getting the design made up as a flat-pack kit and selling through hardware stores, toy shops, online etc.

the returns will be higher and you can protect the business better than trying to sell a set of plans that would probably get ripped off or ignored by the prospective builder.

You may want to consider using an environmentally friendly product like some of the processed bamboo sheets to make them out of.

You could offer customisation services for additional upsell revenue.

You could make sure they comply with any child safe regulations and have necessary approval documentation so you could sell into the childcare industry.

Heading down the path of just selling the plan is not likely to yield any returns.

Neither is providing them as a kindle.

PLR for something like that would only have a limited market.

If you sell directly via your website at least you will be building a list that could be targeted with other offers as the children grow.

If someone wanted to diy a kid's cubby there are a lot of free plans or ideas if you know where to look.

If the design is good you should try to produce as a kit and sell that way.

We even produced a product similar to the cardboard playhouse for our business several years ago now and sell it as self-assembly kits into childcare niches.

PLR might work. You don't have to offer it in the WSO, but wouldn't hurt if you do it the right way.

There are sites all over the web for people who create "building plans."

I personally inherited over 100 plans to build things. My father did them all. Still sitting on it as I have to share the project with my brother who will never get around to doing anything, lol.

Anyway, these were smaller projects and my thoughts were to chunk them into a membership site where people could just purchase the ones they wanted.

For a "all in one" project like it sounds like you have, I'd do a site about playhouses and then sell that plan in an ebook form, perhaps with videos showing it being made. Probably go into an authority site on kids playhouses.

If I read your post correctly you have one set of plans for a playhouse. Something you might want to consider is to give these away as a freebie to get people on your email list and then promote different products to them. Like ozi mentioned "Teds Woodworking" from clickbank, as well as tools via amazon and so forth. You could also come up with a few more plans for things like garden sheds and chicken coops, then create your own ebook with these products to sell, as well as get affiliates to sell for you.
