How Much Can I Ask For??

Hello fellow marketers,

I need some guidance here, I got an inquiry from a customer.

Here it is:

"We are in need of long-term cooperation for Email Marketing. We are looking for full set services for email marketing -- Plan, Design, Send and collecting emails.
Please let me know what you can do for us. welcome to contact me for details
."

My question is, how much can I charge for this kind of job? They mention long-term cooperation, so if we say 6 months contract to start with, can someone here help me out on how I can approach this?

Thank you in advance!

- Oliver

    The right answers is:

    As much as you want

I would say, no less than $3000/M. It's a LOT of work you know. $3000 is a bargain anyway...

      Hello Andrew!

      Thank you for your answer.

Mm yes I guess I could! I just wanted to have an idea so I don't charge too much or worse, too little!

This doesn't read like a real job to me. It reads like those "Make $10,000 per month"
job posts that you show up for only to realize that they are looking for sales people
    who work on 100% commission.
This business is asking you to do EVERYTHING. So they are really asking for
    a solo ad provider.

      Hi Ray,

Well, I'm not offering them traffic, as a solo ad provider would do. They are looking for someone to write their newsletter / follow up series. And collect the emails from the customers etc etc.

I agree with fellow warrior above, ask for at least 3 000 /month because it will be a lot of work and you need create, setup and prepare for yourself , it looks like they are asking for complete solution.

When you will be answering them you can include explanation why such price.

There's just not enough information here to give any kind of realistic estimate.

Some questions to begin with: How big are the clients? Mailing list size? Frequency of mailings? Number of offers? Status of subscribers (buyers or prospects)? Other email campaigns? Nature of business?

And, not least, from your point of view: How experienced/qualified are you? Do have any record of success in this field?

          .

Yes, I've sent them some questions I need answer to already.

I don't have that much experience, but I'm one of Ben Settles subscribers, so I'm learning from one of the best email marketers in the business and applying his techniques.

But I'll have all of this in mind!

            Thank you.

Before worrying about how much I could charge.....I'd get my ducks in a row.

            contact me for details
Did you do that? Is that how you know it's a newsletter or followup? What products do they sell - what is the price point? How long have they been in business?

You say this is from "a customer" - is this an inquiry through Fiverr??? Are they collecting bids from several writers for the project? Have you worked for them before?

How much experience do you have in email marketing and list building? Did they contact you due to your expertise....if not, how did they choose YOU?

(Looks like we were all posting at the same time!)

How many hours will you need to put into this job each month....will the contact be for a specific number of months? Are there milestones you must reach to satisfy the client?

For anyone to tell you "charge $$$$" is ridiculous. Get the facts - decide if the offer is legit - and submit a bid with a plan and a price that will work for you. If the offer is REAL - I expect they requested bids from more than one person.

I am going to support the people who think there's not enough info to tell you anything meaningful and add a twist.

You did not give us info info and it looks like you don't have enough info about the job.

You need to know what, exactly, they are hiring you to do. They need to know, exactly, what you will provide them.

If you think they hired you to write/create an optin page and 7 follow-up email messages a month and they think they hired you to create them a sales funnel that will get them x new clients a month, you could easily end up in troubles.

Plus, if it's the first, you will get paid a lot less than if it's the 2nd.

Plus, in each industry, there's the low, the medium, and the high price, and a few people/outfits that charge way below the minimum or 20 times the high price (and have happy clients).

People seem to have a hard time with this one, so an analogy seems in order:

You can hire someone to build you a 4000 square foot house on the same lot that you can sell for $350,000 or for $2,200,000. There is not much difference between them, in terms of layout: either option comes with 1 living room, 1 dining room, 4 bedrooms, a basement. They both have doors and windows, a roof... But everybody looking at the final result will know why they're different.

So, have you positioned yourself as the $2,000,000 builder or as the $350,000 builder? Are they looking for a $2,000,000 builder or for a $350,000 builder, do they want laminate counter tops or granite?

Also, when pricing things: take into account how else could you be using your time and how much is the other usage bringing in... You don't want to end up with less pay for the same effort (though it's okay to get more).

Reminds me of one of those old "make money placing tiny ads" scams. You request the details, and once your payment clears, you get back a photocopied sheet that says "place ads like the one you just answered, and when someone sends you money, send them a copy of this page."

It might be a legit offer. Even if it is, I think Kay is right and they are collecting bids. It's up to you to respond, so keep your BS meter cranked up to 11.

Once you have more details, you might want to drop in on the Offline/Online section and ask there.
