How long does it take to get a site to 10 visitors per day??? So 300 unique visitors per month??? (like actual people) Is that difficult? And how would I go about doing that (say at no cost?) Thanks.

Almost instant if you take time to promote your content a bit.

Almost instant? Like what you think I could get it to that in 1 month? I figure at 10 per day I'd be okay. At 100 I'd be golden. At 1000 I'd be rich and and 10,000 I'd be up there with bill gates. Super rich. But staritng at 10 per day would be good.

If you promote your content the right way on social medias, you could have 10 visitors within few minutes. There is no magic in this.
If you're talking about organic traffic, it shouldn't be neither a too big problem. Just use low competition keywords and see the traffic coming.
The only question is always, how targeted your traffic is and how you can convert them into buyers.

10 visitors per day is ONE mediocre tweet. That's why I say it's a no biggie and almost an instant result.

    Hi,
it depends on how much effort you put in...

What I would do, is focus on SEO. Write excellent articles for your blog, and make sure to do your keyword research.

When I've launched my website I've concentrated on SEO and I've created unique content via freelance copywriter. It took me an hour I guess to get 10 visitors.

F**k. For me it's taking a lot longer.
Started site in September. I started adding posts from December. Right now has about 35 very well written posts but gets 1-2 visits/day and the bounce rate is 90%.

    Income is naturally zero. Frustrated.

      Mr. Craig,

People post really sketchy stuff on here, and it is difficult to help them. There are a lot of factors that determine why you're not getting the results you want.
      • Niche selection is one of them
Whether or not your posts are what people are looking for is another
How detailed and well written your posts are
        SEO factors
Are there compelling graphics and images on the posts
        What is your purpose?

However, the question isn't traffic. I've seen sites that spend good money and get bazillions of visitors and their conversions SUCK!

A better question would be, how many people am I making a long lasting connection with?

I would rather have 10 people a month that loved my mission and wanted to be a part of it rather than 10 a day because those ten will eventually tell 10 others and evangelize my cause or business.

I hope this helps. my friend.

      God Bless!

      Elmo

Totally depends. For some literally hours for others 2 years or more.

Skill set plus the kind of traffic ( paid or free) will effect this

If your site content is good, then you can use social media to get more traffic.
Because, Search Engine Optimization is a long process.
You have to keep wait a long time to rank a site. But, if you have decent friend following, you can easily promote your site.

It depends on the source of your traffic.
If using free methods, then it will take time to
    generate traffic.
If using paid methods, then you can literally
get thousands of traffic in a single day!

You can get that amount by promoting quality content through your blog. The key is quality. Promote your post using social media and depending on the quality some people may even share it for you.

most importantly is the quality ... 5 visitors might be better than 100000

I have reached more than 10 daily search engine visitors in less than a month with one of my sites. but really it depends on many factors like:
    - How competitive is the niche you are ranking for
    - What kind of website you are trying to rank (content, product review, e-commerce)
    - SEO strategies
    - Social media awareness
    - and so on...

In my case, most of the traffic came from Bing, Yahoo and AOL though. At the time, I have ranked on the very first page for the main keyword on those search engines, but still wasn't ranked in the 10th page of Google, so their algorithm is very different.

It won't be easy, but it's as simple as creating mind-blowing content, finding niche traffic sources, and grabbing the attention of that niche traffic through enticing copy ...

The point is to compel a significant percentage of that traffic to visit your site, and to engage with your content, and to trust you, and to ultimately buy the benefits they'd get from whatever you're selling or from whatever you want them to do ...

Nothing is free. If you spend your time and energy and use your knowledge and experience to create content and to promote your site on your own by enticing your target audience in offsite locations with your compelling content, then you're, well, spending time and energy and using your knowledge and experience ...

The point is to maximize the results that you want, minimize the cost and entirely eliminate all possible problems (if at all possible) ...

To achieve those objectives, it'll require time, energy, knowledge and experience ...

I don't know about you, but my time, my energy, my knowledge and my experience are all equivalent to a significant amount of money ...

The only way you can instantly drive quality traffic to your blog/website is publishing quality content on social media. I did it myself few months ago and result was just amazing. Always focus on great CONTENT!

It depends on what you are doing to promote your website. Social media is the easy and shortest way to connect with niche people. Use twitter and facebook to get to know what people wants and what is trending in your niche.

When I started off on my site using SEO, I was getting 10 visitors a day within 2-3 weeks and 10 pages of content... I just let it sit there and watch after putting it all up there at once.

300 a month was rather easy, and you can get it just by a shot in the dark.

You can trip and land on 300 a month with a little seo and a okay plan.

Getting to 30 a day was a bit harder. I still remember thinking, "ok, 20 a day, I know I can get it to 30!"

    Then when I was at 30, I was okay, lets go for 50, if I got 30, I can get 50 a day1

Then came 100... 200....300.... You get the picture.

Got to agree with the masses here. If you promote this through your social media channels you will have traffic in no time. Take Pinterest for example - even with no followers at all you can use relevant hashtags on the images from the post and you will get traffic for weeks sometimes months after. With Google+ you can join loads of groups that a niche relevant and you will also get traffic, again no followers necessary either....

My two cents on very basics of SEO, some of the experts above have mentioned it.

    * Select your Niche
    * Find Low competition keywords or long tail keywords for your niche. You can use Google Keyword Tool or go for paid options that will save you time: Long Tail Pro Or Market Samurai (I am not associated with them)
    * Target 1 - 2 keyword/Long Tail Keywords per article, Structure your article ahead of time around these keyword however make it look like natural.
    * Make sure your article provides value to the users.
    * Use Social Media and other means to promote your content before SEO effect kicks in.

There are other complex SEO strategy that you can apply. The learning opportunities are endless and never ending. Get your basics right.

10 visitors per day is a piece of stale cake. 10 of the right visitors is a little trickier.

If 10k per day would land you in Gates' neighborhood, you surely aren't making money with ads. So simple exposure isn't going to get you there.

All of the ideas already presented could work, or you could end up like poor Craig with 'traffic' but no conversion.

Pat Flynn has a new book called "Will It Fly". While the topic of the book is testing business ideas before sinking time and money into them, there's a section on market research that's tailor made for you. Go through that section, do the exercises, and then start thinking about the methods presented above.
