hi, i've started a blog site about my fav soccer/football team.

i'd like some feedback on how effective the adword campaign would be.

    Nice site....I would add a bunch more content really quickly and try adding a few pics and make it more "theme" oriented.

    I don't think "soccer" when I go to the site.

    Just my humble opinion.

    Danny, Its OK for the time being. I like the colours. Welcome to the forum and I think you will find a lot of help here for what you are doing. I also follow footie. Just had Union Bledisloe Cup on Saturday. NZ won. Now its Rugby and AFL grand finals coming up but my team already lost.

    You must have a unique theme... people who are familiar with blogs, especially bloggers like me will not stay in a site with such theme... sorry for being straightforward.. or you can modify the colors... simple color modification will be fine... like this one here..       To answer your original question...

      i'd like some feedback on how effective the adword campaign would be.
      To make some money from Adwords you'll need to get loads and loads of traffic to your site and get them clicking those links.

      Could you make worthwhile money from Adwords? Unlikely in my opinion.

      For me, a content-based site like this would make more money from one or more of the following methods:

      1. Affiliate links to Celtic products - books, kit, DVD, etc, etc.

      2. Paid membership - get people to pay for your content in a membership area. Maybe a monthly fee so that you'll get an ever-increasing monthly income

      Both of the above require really good, constantly updated content.

      3. Producing/selling your own Celtic related product - ebook, software, music, art, whatever.

      4. How about a text/SMS based information system? Get people to sign up for your 'alerts' and charge them 50p a shot with reverse billing.

      The list is endless.

      And there would be a million ways to drive traffic to a site such as this - ways that you'll find plenty of them in this forum that similar Celtic-themed sites won't have dreamt of.

      You could be onto a winner if you do this right mate. And if come up with a model that works, there's nothing to stop you expanding it to other teams.

      Just a few ideas.

    Your site looks really great, but perhaps an action shot above the fold, perhaps top right, would give a more lively and energetic look.

    neil, these are some great idea's, i've been a web designer for years now, but i've never actually got into the monitizing side of things. I've been reading stuff on adwords and affilliate schemes too.

    I think some of the advice you game me about my site is really useful and i'm going to take this onboard. i like the selling celtic products on my site idea. Think i'll try and find an affilliate scheme that does this. do you know of any?
