Quick Kindle Publishing success tip: Spend more time on your author profile and book description

If you've been trying to make money with Kindle and are struggling, put a bit more focus on your AUTHOR page and your book's description.

Here's a case study (not my site). Note: the author uses reverse engineering to get results so the perspective he is using is of one 'cheating' the system. When you get past that perspective, you'll pick up a few gems. Part 2: Confessions from the Scammy, Underground World of Kindle eBooks

Ughh, this guy is disgusting... he knows he's publishing mostly plagiarized work among other things that make what he's doing pretty unethical.

But yes, I've realized that once your book content is good, the next most important things you should NEVER neglect is your book cover and your description; this is really what sells your book.

People buy based on the impression they get, and only see the full level of quality in your work when reading the whole book.

As for the Author Page, I must admit that I did not think it would be AS important but this has me reevaluating my perspective.

Thanks for the share and insight, writeaway.

    Regards,
    Daniel

      I agree.

The book description should be a mini sales page. The more that it sells the book, the more your book will sell.

One of my client went from top 700 000 to the top 60 000 for the best seller rank just by changing his description.

Note that the author uses blatant theft, so the perspective that he's cheating the system is completely accurate. My problem with what he did is the lying, cheating and stealing, not the reverse engineering.

If you can get past the icky sleaze feeling this sociopath leaves, there are lessons for legit authors. Namely, focus on the 20% of your presentation that boosts your results (cover, description, real reviews) and skip the 80% that many "how to market on Kindle" works present.

That is EXACTLY my point. The article was obviously written as CLICKBAIT so the emphasis on the slime but there are serious gems there. Readers just have to wade through slimy presentation.

Of course, that goes without saying. By 'good', we're talking about: niche-relevant, value-packed, emotionally engaging, and strategically positioned.

Sadly, with Amazon, being 'good' is not good enough. You also have to make sure your books are listed and positioned properly to make Amazon's internal traffic system work for you.

The author page is probably the most important pages of all. I personally talk a lot on Quora (+500,000 views) and I have included the Author (Amazon) in my description. Lots of people went there to check it out and I've made extra sales.

Book descriptions are also important. I didn't pay attention to it on my first books, but they are "telling" a potential customer if to buy the book or not.

Generally, books with great descriptions, editorial reviews, great covers, and overall great presentations sell better.
