newbie Needs advice/help

Hi guys
I just joined this site and im amazed by all the great topics and different areas to learn about.
I was just looking for advice on where is best to start reading on learning internet marketing and where to go from there.
I have a side food business which i have good knowledge on and I also come from an accounting background but being honest I would not have much knowledge on internet marketing but im keen to learn and earn additional income in time.

    I can almost guarantee that most of your beginner questions have been answered...

    Don't be like the majority of lazy, illiterate newbies who join and ask mundane questions... Try to learn the basics first then you'll be able to ask targeted questions , that way you'll get better answers...

    Most people appreciate those who take it upon themselves to learn instead of coming here and expecting handouts and miracles...

      I came across this forum by accident , I'm currently trying to expand my side food business which i do on a saturday and I wanted to learn more about internet marketing etc.
      I'm also interested on setting up additional income streams and I think from this site I could learn to do so now.

    I would say that the most important thing at this stage is for you to familiarize yourself with the different business models you can pursue online.

    You don't want to make the mistake of jumping straight into something without first knowing if it's something you can see yourself doing for the long-haul.

    Affiliate marketing, for example, gives you a lot of options in terms of the market/audience you choose to serve.

    Once you figure out what you want to do, make sure you don't buy into all the hypey claims of "easy money".

    Stay grounded, and keep learning!

      Learning about Internet Marketing can be a pretty intimidating and confusing study simply because there is so much to learn. Compounding that problem is the fact that many people here, although meaning well, will give you information that is simply their own untested opinion, or worse yet, an idea or tactic that just doesn't work.

      So I would say ... watch, observe, search on specific topics that interest you (the more specific you are in your search, generally the better) and ask questions if your searching doesn't give you credible answers.

      Within a short period of time, you will begin to notice that credible and helpful information resides with some Warriors more than others. These are the people you should listen to and test their advice to see if it is profitable for you.

  • There is a huge market, with many sub niches, wanting to learn how to have a
    "side food business"
    whatever that means.

    I take it to mean, you have a "part time" gig of some kind in the food industry, which you know a lot about. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    I'm going to disagree with the good advice and common sense wisdom of the previous posters (in this case) and tell you this..

    You have great "stored value" in your knowledge, value which other people are willing to pay for and to pay for as quick as you can assemble it.

    There isn't a long learning curve on selling what you know...getting paid for that is a matter of creating an intersection where your prospects already go and making them an offer they can't refuse.

    Sure, be a long term learning student, but with valuable knowledge, there really isn't a good reason why not to act fast. Fire, ready and aim in this case.

      Sorry for the vagueness in my post i basically have a side business I set up last year a burrito stall that I do on a Saturday. I have over 5 years experience in catering and I would like to think I have very good Knowledge in the area.
      My main downfall in the online area is I would not know how to set up website domain etc and affiliate marketing. However I know from this forum I will learn all these things in time and it won't be from a lack of trying.

  • Read anything that interests you. Different categories interest different people. When you find something you like and are excited about, jump right in and start testing!
  • I would suggest that you want to choose between what interests you and what is selling.

    Regarding what is selling to quote Tony Robbins,

    If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve the same results.

    To find what is selling you can go to warriorplus.com & jvzoo.com for example and find what are the top selling keywords and products on those platforms.

    Then pick one or two sub niches of internet marketing such as list building, email marketing, copywriting, traffic or conversions.

    Research one sub niche and become a master of that.
    Maintain your focus on your chosen sub niche.

    And lastly become a producer and not a consumer.

    If you look at the most successful folks in the internet marketing industry you will probably see that they have two things in common.

    1) They create products and sell them

    and

    2) they have a list.

    Those are my thoughts on your question.

    Nowadays finding best internet marketing gurus are absolutely easy. Do Google and find gurus in social media. People Neil Patel and Brian Dean they're all dominating now the internet marketing channel.

  • Online isn't a whole lot different from offline.

    You still need a target market.

    You still need to be able to solve a problem for them, whether it's a nice bunch of flowers so they can please their significant other or a way to pump out flooded basements so they can have a safe living environment, that they acknowledge exists.

    You still need a way of getting in front of your target market.

    And you still need a competent way of solving that problem.


    In IM, the storefront moves from Jones Ave. to the Internet.

    Instead of initially talking to prospective customers 1-on-1 when they walk into your shop, you can communicate with them through various digital media like videos, pdfs, webpage copy, and infographics.

    But from there, you can take it anywhere you like.

    There is no magic bullet, though people foolishly spend years and years looking for one like an El Dorado is somewhere out there, under the next mountain.

    Unqualified Leads >>> Qualified Leads >>> Sales.

    Make this happen consistently, and you'll have a business.

      I really appreciate your fantastic reply it gives great info , I guess is what my main problem is I dont know how to set up webpage cheaply a domain name and how to affiliate market to draw sales , I feel that I have knowledge on certain areas where I could blog about to draw customers in etc.
      I guess by searching more in this forum I will learn how to do all these things.

  • Ok, No problem. you are in the right place. Here there are many expert, just you need to be in touch. You will be able to get many important things here. beside this you can watch some video in youtube. If you type the keyword in the youtube you will found a ton of video. I am sure you will be able to learn many things by the video also. Thanks for your interest.
  • Its good that you have a side business so that you have freedom to learn the new things at your own pace.

    However, if you imagine yourself in a position where you only have a month's savings and you have an only option of internet marketing for future earnings, then things will start to reveal to you in better ways. Some people here had to face that kind of situation in reality and they have started from there to succeed eventually.

    There are lots of business models involved in internet marketing. So your first job is to know those models very well and determine which business model suits to your skills and resources. Focus only on that model to start with.

    Your initial learning curve will be like lot of learning and some action. But after that initial stage, you will succeed only when there is a lot of action with just enough learning regarding your chosen business model.

I work fulltime and I have a side food business on a Saturday but i definetly want to learn this whole area for internet marketing and being affiliate to earn additional income.

  • I'm going to have to disagree with gjabiz I'm afraid. I don't think that entering into IM selling the information you've gathered as a food stall owner is the best way to go.

    My reasoning being is this. Patt Flynn has launched something similar in the US (https://foodtruckr.com/book/) & its been round for a while. Can't remember the exact time frame but at least 6 months. On his website, he posts his sales figures monthly. Now, taking into account that he has a fair amount of experience & a team working with him, this is the monthly income he's managed to generate:

    Thinking back to his site & product he is offering, how long do you think it will take you to come up with a product of at least equivalent quality, learn everything you need to to effectively market the product and then finally implement it...all for around $1.5K a month.

    Now I'm not saying $1.5K is change by any means, just that there are more productive ways of going about it.

    Can I ask more about your main business/day job? What field is that in?

    • I'm not sure how it is in Ireland, but in the US, businesses like food stalls, carts, food trucks, pop-up restaurants are hot right now. Lots of people want to know what you already know.

      If you want your own product, you could follow Flynn's lead and create a site/product around running a food stall. You have one advantage Pat doesn't - you actually have experience. Pat is using the angle of building a resource and community.

      If you want to be an affiliate, you could create your own resource site and recommend cookbooks, portable cooking equipment, and so forth.

      I wouldn't worry too much about Pat Flynn's numbers. The whole project is basically a lab experiment for him. I can recommend his Smart Passive Income blog and podcast if you do want to go the affiliate route.

      Many thanks for the reply yes i agree that does not seem huge money for a lot of effort and time , I guess it would take me a long time regardless to make income of 1500 a month??
      Well my backstory is I was a plasterer for 4 years and ended up back in college by night here in Ireland in which i got an accounting degree at night while working by day.
      The building industry here in ireland crashed resulting in me getting an office job doing accounts receivable and payable as well as doing daily purchase orders etc.
      I also work on a Saturday doing my food stall selling burritos and stuff , the business is in existence 7 months while i had 4 years prior experience helping a friend on his food stall. I'm 27 and very ambitious to learn more in this whole area and be successful

      Here's the only advice that will ever actually make you any money (no matter what you decide to do):

      "Look for ways that people are hurting, then do everything you can to help them stop hurting. Charge them something to make sure they take it seriously."

      IM, offline, whatever. Follow that advice and it will guide everything else you do in a way that will always bring you profits. Always.

      A lot of failed businesses failed because they asked, "How can I make money?" instead of "How can I help one person overcome something painful?

      Example:

      IM product titled "How to make consistent $1k/month in 30 days or less"

      It addresses a major pain in peoples' lives. If the product is good (it better be) then it actually helps them to overcome that pain and achieve something.

      This works in every niche too:

      Athletes foot >> How to cure athletes foot forever with two natural ingredients found in your kitchen cupboards

      Video Games >> Level up faster than ever with this secret guide to blah, blah, blah

      Martial Arts >> Legendary Black Belt Renalto Laranja exposes the "5 finger" daily routine that allowed him to tap out Eddie Bravo in under 30 seconds

      Etc. etc.

      Find the pain. Cure it/help it. Charge to make sure they take it seriously.

      Everything else is just a method for achieving that basic principle.

  • I would suggest you find some good books on internet marketing written by someone who has done it all and actively teaching the subject.
