Should I ask for an affiliate link here?

I just came from the sales page for EasyClickMate. I have decided to purchase the product. I got to the sales page via a Google search. So there would not be an affiliate sale for the purchase. Before I finished checking out I abandoned the cart in order to come here to ask a warrior to post their affiliate link so they could get credit for the sale.

Then I realized that in doing so I would be forcing Adrian to pay for an affiliate sale that was dubiously generated. The affiliate did not put in any work to generate the sale.

Now I've a dilemma. Self imposed and multifaceted of course.

Is creating a thread here asking for an affiliate link proper form?
I intended to ask in the off topic thread BTW.

Is asking for an affiliate link at all proper form? Should Adrian be allowed to retain 100% of the sale since his work generated it? Minus clickbank fees of course.
Adrian did not pay Google for my click. I clicked on the natural search link to the .com site. Not the paid link to the .net site.

Do we -we as a community- want to start a precedent where creating threads asking for affiliate links prior to making purchases becomes the norm?
Picture numerous threads for that express purpose. Pushing much more valuable threads off the front page. Regardless of which forum we may decide would be the best place to start them. Of course we may not decide anything, Allen may do that for us. Though I've not found the subject addressed in the rules. Could have missed it I guess.

And finally, if creating a thread asking for the link is acceptable to the community, and erroneously generating an affiliate sale for the product is apropos then how do I determine who's link to use?
1st posted comes to mind. But then someone is rewarded for being at the right place at the right time. But such is life. Or maybe not. Also thought of using a newbies link to encourage them. But is a sale so easily generated truly encouragement?

Should have just used my own link to buy the product and let it go at that. But then I would not have given all of you the opportunity to let me know just how much of a dumb ass I am.

Self inflicted quandries are my forte,
Gene

    Hi Gary,

Nice jester on your part to do this.
Although the owner of Easy Click Mate is also a Warrior...lol

    Adrien < think I mis-spelled his name???

So it would be kinda like stealing from peter to pay paul so to speak...lol

    Hope that Helps,
    Have a Great Day!
    Michael

PS, Yes I'm an affiliate for ECM.
and No I'm not posting my link...lol

Gene, I think you already know the answer to your own question. Letting an aff get credit for the sale on this scenario would be whack. Also, even though he didn't pay Google for the click, it was his expertise to make sure his site ranked organically that got the click.

  • But by helping a newbie get his/her first affiliate sale, he could propel said newbie into a realm of new confidence, causing that newbie to go out and promote the product to get even more sales for both he and the product owner.

    That was a long sentence.
