What is a normal conversion rate

Good Day,

I have recently launched an affiliate network and am working on increasing affiliate traffic to my home page. I am getting some traffic, but am seeing a conversion rate below 1%. Any idea what a fairly normal conversion rate is for an affiliate program? Most of my traffic is from Google AdWords Marketing. I know that I need to fine tune that, but I am just curious what is a realistic goal based on what others are seeing.

Thank you

David

Doesn't the conversion rate depend on a lot of variables - like your offer, your copy, your product, your audience, and on and on? How are we going to help you when we don't know the details of what you're promoting?

I can tell you that most marketers get very dismal results. It sounds like you're right in there with the averages. And if you accept the averages as your "realistic goal based on what others are seeing" then you will continue to struggle.

But it doesn't have to be that way. You need to do things differently in order to be successful. Without knowing your niche, the offer, and how you're set up in your sales process, it's impossible to be specific.

      Hi Steve,

You are right that I have not provided much in the way of details. My ultimate goals are also to increase. I am asking to get an idea of if I am on the right track. My site is in my signature and I would welcome any more specific feedback, but my real goal at the moment is to establish a baseline.

      Thank you for the feedback.

    Hi Davebrab,

Most of the time adwords conversion rate will be around 3-7%. And it also depends upon the condition. If you are working on e-commerce then its conversion rate may go more than 7%. And In some niches it may be 1%. So you need to mention your website name then I can give you more clear idea.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek

If you are running cold traffic from Google ad words to an affiliate offer and converting at 1% in 2016 you are actually doing a very, very good job.

If you want to increase the percentage, you need to work harder at moving people from cold to warm to hot traffic.

The way to do this is offer more value upfront. Use remarketing. Get people to trust you by simply being in their face with value all the time.

You do that, and you don't even have to be that good a copywriting. Value, value, value until they buy.

Typically anywhere from 3% to 5% is average. Of course as Steve says it is dependent on a number of variables

It depends on a lot of factors, the product you are offering, the quality of your traffic, your copywriting skills and so on.

The average conversion rate in the internet marketing industry is about 2%

But there are strategies you can use to increase that.

I have read before that the most "common" or normal CTR is 2% - 4%?

There are many ways to increase that thought. I suggest you do an a & b testing of your campaign and focus on the one'es with higher CTR.

Higher CTR is not a a surefire to earn money though. Some of the clicks maybe accidental.

Best thing is to make your landing page more user friendly also must have great content.

You can search the net for strategies.

There's no such thing as a normal conversion rate. If using PPC every keyword phrase will have a different conversion rate. Some will convert at 1% or less, whilst others will convert at well over 10% due to being "buyer" keywords.

If you are just starting out 1 to 5% is typical. Checking your numbers you should be able to increase your conversions with a few tweaks. Like Steve B said, you need to know your niche in order to know what to adjust.
