Hello boys and girls,

I've noticed a lot of people are having issues with PP recently. In terms of having limits placed on their accounts, or people get shut down all together.

It's all I've been seeing on FB the last couple of days.

Might I suggest just being a little proactive here? If Paypal are doing the rounds and looking for excuses to freeze peoples accounts, there's a simple way to ensure you're not in the firing line.

Obviously avoiding disputes and such is the obvious foucs, but what I regularly do with Paypal, is call them up directly, and have a chat with one of the staff. I explain that business is going well, and I'm expecting the frequency and size of payments I receive for my digital services to be increasing over the coming month or two. As a result of this, I just want to check my account is up to date with everything they need, so that I know my withdrawals will run smoothly etc.

The usual response I get from this, is a thank you for letting them know, a congratulations on the growth of my business, a confirmation that is well and there's no reason for any potential troubles, and they make a note on the account so that if there are any spikes in income, it's already explained, they don't have to freeze and investigate.

To some I'm sure this seems like common sense, and this probably wasn't the most exciting read, but I have NEVER had any issues with Paypal, simply by keeping them updated, checking all is well, and being polite.

If you sell digital services in any shape or form whether it's coaching, traffic, memberships, whatever, I'd suggest this is a practise you begin follow as it seems these account freezes are becoming more frequent...

I hope this proved to be helpful for some of you

Shaun

That's weird; they just settled a class action lawsuit for improperly limiting accounts and holding funds.

Over the past year I have seen much fewer complaints about PayPal on WF so I assumed they were getting better.

Are the complaints you are seeing on facebook new complaints or are people rehashing their experiences from the Class Action period?

They're recent for sure. Seen at least 15 in the last 2 days, and a few different articles flying about with regards to how "unfair" they're being.

From what I understand, they're asking people that provide digital services so show proof of delivery and things like that. Which in some instances, can of course prove to be difficult.

Given their wealth and power, I doubt that's the last case they'll be settling on rather than seeing something like that go to court.

      Solid post man

Hopefully this can help those that are in a jam.

Still best to take the proactive approach to avoid such a scenario though lol

There has always, and will always be people complaining about Paypal.

Don't take things you read on Facebook to seriously...a good portion of Facebook users are bots/fake/rehashed posts/link redirects and stuff like that.

I would not worry now, anymore then you did a month ago about your Paypal account. If you are not breaking there terms of service, you will not have anything to worry out.

You are under-estimating the shady stuff people try to do with Paypal. People try and do stupid stuff all the time and then they complain and wonder why they got limited or frozen when they were "receiving payments as gifts" or selling prohibited items or Using Fake information in the accounts.

I really don't think account freezes are becoming more frequent...especially with what just happened with the lawsuit...If anything they would be coming less frequent. If anything, its just more people using Paypal in inappropriate ways and them complaining. But more then likely the posts on Facebook....as with most posts on Facebook are just B.S spam posts.

Completely agree for the best part, although I know the posts aren't BS as they're people I know in some way shape or form, and they aren't doing anything shady to the best of my knowledge.

I myself am fine, I have no concerns and have a good relationship with them.

I agree most of the complaints come from people deserving it but the sense I get is that PP are getting tighter, and I figure the easiest way to avoid getting in to any trouble is to just play ball, be proactive, and don't do anything you shouldn't lol

Just figured the opening post could serve to be useful for those that sell digital services and may be seeing the same thing happen.

I used to worry about this happening to me all the time, even though I follow their TOS. The fact that I sell digital products and am an Internet Marketer has always had me worried it would happen one day.

A while back I thought about it a little and decided that I was not going to worry about it at all anymore. If it happens I'll deal with it.

I have seen a few more posts than usual about PP accounts being limited on Facebook, too, but I can't see the point in worrying about it. If it's going to happen it's going to happen. All you can do is react and deal with it as best you can.

If it does happen it will definitely impact business, but not indefinitely. I'm also pretty certain that most of the people who have had their accounts restricted must have been doing something against their TOS.

Normally when people complain about things like losing their AR account, etc, they have done something to deserve it, and they conveniently leave that part out. I'm not saying that's the case with everyone, but I think it is with most.

The point is you can't sit around and worry about something that may or may not ever happen. You'll drive yourself crazy doing that.

Completely agree. Don't give them an excuse to ban/freeze/limit your account and you're fine!

Traffic Monsoon is an obvious Ponzi scheme, so of course their funds were frozen. Perfect example of people breaking Paypal terms and breaking laws in countries that Paypal operates and then playing the victim and blaming Paypal for it.

While a legitimate company can get temporarily flagged by Paypal's automated fraud check system, those issues are typically resolved within a day or two when the company provides Paypal with the necessary information to confirm it is not fraud. It is extremely rare for long term problems to occur with legitimate activity from legitimate businesses.

I think it all comes down to what or where the money is coming from that is going into your paypal account. Anything that's not quite on the level and you might have problems.

I've had my paypal account for over 10 years now and I've never had any problems at all, but then again, I keep everything nice and clean, so there's never anything to worry about.

Exactly pal. I've never had any issues either. Just comes down to not doing anything you're not meant to be really...

For the first time in more than 8 years f having a paypal account, I had to deal with a paypal case. Oh boy, if you think your eBay buyer can't return something for any other reason than they don't want it - think again!

PayPal does have a big problem with their Risk Management Department. They will impose limitations without asking any questions. Example...

Suppose your selling a membership software and on your sales letter it may say "Unlimited Membership Levels. Now, you and I know that this means how much of your product the member will have access to and not having anything to do with how affiliates are paid.

To PayPal this is code for MLM, which is contrary to their TOS.

If you are lucky and are not permanently limited, you can contact PayPal to get your limitation resolved.

The real problem enters when a permanent limitation has be assigned to your account and they will not even talk to you to get the matter resolved, especially when it is a misunderstanding on their part as they are not marketers.

    Best regards,
    Steve Yakim
