Internet Marketing - My summary?

I've joined WF some two months ago, learned a lot of things here and there. Now here is a summary of what I think I've learned about IM. Let me know if I'm correct or if I missed something.

First, IM is about selling something, your own product/service or someone else's. When you already have a product you intend to sell (after niche research), you must do the things below to sell the product:

1. Squeeze page - You must create a squeeze page with details about your product and you capture email addresses of visitors from it by offering a free report or e-course via auto responder for the purpose of up-selling later on.

2. Article marketing - You write your product review and submit to article directories like ezinearticles, squidoo, buzzle, blogs, etc. You then link your affiliate link, or own product sales page, or squeeze page from your article/resource box.

3. Joint Ventures - You partner with a group of people and ask them to sell your product to their list, you then pay them commission.

4. Traffic - You must drive traffic to your articles/squeeze pages via:
Organic Search - May require link building from related sites
Pay Per Click - Requires money per click (Adwords, YSM, etc)
Social Bookmarking - Use Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, etc.
Video Marketing - Youtube, Metacafe, etc.
5. Focus - Pick one thing and get good at it forget about mastering all things. - Terry Hatfield

So that's quite it. Do I still miss important points? Hope the gurus will add more Anyway, I hope this also helps newbies who are confused on what really internet marketing is all about.

This is a really good summary. I'd make one correction though - you don't really need a squeeze page, which I think of as a page that won't let you see anything until you enter an email address. There are some non IM markets where this turns people off. Yes it is a great idea to have some sort of signup form (for a newsletter or special report for example), and a pure squeeze page works fine in some markets, but for selling "regular" products you probably want to have it as a sidebar/option on the page rather than a pure squeeze page.

You might also want to add Viral Marketing to the list - ie write a short report or ebook about your product, put in your links to the products, make it rebrandable so that others can put in their affiliate links to your product, and distribute it.

I couldn't agree with this more! It isn't until you choose a solid business model and stick with it for the long term that you truly make the big bucks.

Very good write up! Same here I've came up with some methods and foundational mindset things now I think the hardest part for me is finding a slightly competitive targeted niche and honing in on it.
