If I have many niche sites or even just one niche site should I have a personalized email like myname@mysite.com or is it professionally alright to go with a standard gmail address for all communications? Thanks

  • That is a personal choice. If you want to be perceived as more branded, you can use your website email but if you aren't too picky, Gmail will do just fine.

I have been using Gmail for years instead of my website emails.

    • You can get a professional free e-mail from mail.com, if you are looking for domains such as engineer.com, consultants.com, or any profession that mail.com has to offer.

You say you have few websites and wanting to have different domain for each then no need to worry. You can have up to 10 emails pointing to a single free account, so you don't have to sign up for many e-mail addresses.

I bet you try it for free. Luckily I have some already.

  • I believe it's much better to go with the personalized email. It's much more professional and if you need to create multiple emails for different people (example you@site, support@site, JVs@site, etc) you can do it easily.
  • From a branding point of view, it obviously looks better to have a personalized email address.

And to have the best of both worlds, you can make use of a Gmail feature called "Aliases" that lets you send and receive emails from your personalized email address using a standard Gmail address. More information here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/22370?hl=en
