Do you think this is legitimate

Hello,

I live in Mumbai, India. I saw some work at home classifieds in the local newspaper claiming to pay Rs 60,000 per month for simple typing work that you can do at home. All you need is a computer Some of these ads said that you don't need internet but this might be bluff. One of the ads stated that you get some work on Excel but that might also be bluff. A full time typist in India does not earn more than 15 to 20 thousand rupees per month.

I called up the number of one of these ads and spoke to a badly trained and suspicious telemarketer. She spoke to me rapidly in Hindi and the only thing I understood was that I was going to get work filling up forms. Since I was not understanding what she was saying I told her to send me more information by email. She said she would but has not done so.

Going by the available information it is possible that this is really a con job that requires you to pay money for enrollment. I have been scammed in this way before by a company which claimed to have a director with family links to Sabeer Bhatia - the founder of Hotmail. At that time I received no money for the work that I had done and the company simply folded up two or three months later and closed its Mumbai office.

It is also possible that the work involved taking part in online surveys which require you to either give your email or give your opinion on a particular product. I will not have used the product and filling up such surveys would be a fraud on the company concerned.

Or it may be legitimate but in that case why didn't I receive an email from them.

Anyone else with an opinion or any experiences to share

If they asked for upfront to get the assignment, better stay away! Maybe their offers are too good to be true. You can find more about data entry scams. Just google it.

If something seems too good to be true, it probably isn't!

Looks like a con job to me. I have seen lots of similar scams

Not receiving email from them indicates that they are scam. If they are legit, and care about you then they would send you immediately.

Why do you need opinions? Of course it's not legitimate...

This is less than $900 per month US - but is THREE TIMES what a similar full time job pays.

You've been scammed once before by a similar "job offer" - how many times does it happen before you stop looking at ads like this?

If they email you and ask for money - move on.

If they ask for a credit card or very personal details - move on.

If they don't email you at all - move on.

If they tell you that you can make a lot of money by filling in forms online, it is a scam. There's a ton of those ads everywhere, and I've never heard one single real person say that they actually made a lot of money filling in forms online. Not one.

Make sure when you consider any make money from home job, that if they ask for money for anything, run. It's not a real job.

If you need to pay a one time fee, it is a SCAM and you should run away.

There are a lot of these type of ads online and they are all a scam. They are after your money and will get you nowhere.

From what you said, it sounds suspicious enough to indeed be a scam.

In any case, there are better ways to make money, like affiliate marketing, Kindle Publishing, or even freelancing (once you get positive reviews).

Ignore those ridiculous ads and learn a legitimate business, and you'll be fine.

    Regards,
    Daniel

60,000 RUPEES, not DOLLARS! So 60,000 Rupees is only a measly $875.78 USD.

Thanks to everybody. Yes it is 60,000 Rupees and not Dollars but that is more than enough money to meet my expenses in India.

Wont look at such ads again

I just used an online currency converter. That $60K Rupees converts to just under $900 USD.

However, it still sounds like BS.

They are after your 'enrollment fee'.

I say, trust your instincts. If you can't get clear information or feel pressured, etc., AND it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Are they asking for any money to start the job? If so, I would say it is a scam and to move on. I am always leery of anyone asking for money first before you start the job.

Well technically you can make money filling forms and that's PPC. Educate yourself and start delving into IM by matching the ideal products to rabid buyers. It took me two weeks of tweaking ads to find my first winner. But I've had some sleepless nights which in the end paid off in spades.
