Difference between buying/renting an email list and buying solo ads

Hey guys,


Can you please help me with this one?

Smarter people than me are telling me NOT to buy an email list (lack of quality, lack of responsiveness) and invest my money in banner ads and solo ads.

But, aren't solo ads very similar (in principle) with renting/buying an email list?

I mean you can in BOTH cases either send the customers to a squueze page or a sales page.

    No, the difference is that the solo seller sends an email to his list where he (basically) recommends his subscribers to opt-in to your squeeze page to get something valuable/exciting or whatever else will entice them to check out your offer.

    In other words, the subscribers you get from a solo ad still have to choose to be on your list, as opposed to if you just bought a list.

    So no, they are certainly NOT the same.

    Especially not from the eyes of the subscribers you get.

    There is a huge difference between renting and solo ads

    In solo ads you do not rent basically they are your subs you own them

    Renting/Buying to be honest is not a good idea ,you never know from where these leads are coming from

    There's no comparison.

    Buying lists is flat out a bad idea 95% of the time, and will almost certainly end with tonnes of spam complaints and a closed AR. The reason for this is the subs don't know you...

    With a solo or similar service, the subs know the sender, hence why they're responsive.

    The main difference b/w email list buying and solo ads buying are…In email list buying you can buy email list from any person or any company which is closed to your niche like: you have online artificial jewelley store in California then your 1st preference will be to buy girls data near to California. Then you can filter them by age range, state etc. And you can start firing your mail through any auto responder or you can create your own auto responder,

    But in solo ads buying. Solo ads provider will send your news letter or article to own wish list, which is related to your niche. So selecting a good solo ads seller is a big task. At that time you can deal to your solo ads seller according to per signup basis or per sale basis cost, whatever your pocket can afford.

    Renting a list from a list broker or some unknown guy that you dont trust is never a good idea. I dont care if they can give you a list of 300,000 dead zombie email addresses... dont buy it.

    With solo ads, most of the people on these lists have an idea of what their seller teaches them (and probably likes the seller), so sending an offer (your offer) to their list will more than likely result in positive results - as opposed to going with some big email renting/list company.

      Buying an email list:

      > Very Bad Idea, unless you are buying an entire business and the list is one of the assets you are buying. Those "10 million email addresses for $99" type offers are pretty much guaranteed to help you make the jump from legit marketer to spammer with one push of a button.

      > You "own" the list, but the list is worse than useless.

      Renting an email list:

      > This is actually somewhat similar to buying a solo ad, or what we called an "endorsed mailing" back in the olden days. You get one-time use of all or part of a legitimate email list and the list manager sends your email to the appropriate part of the list.

      > This is a one shot deal. If you can get people to opt in to your own list, you own the subscription and can remail.

      > There are legitimate sources of email lists and legitimate brokers. Many print magazines rent their subscriber lists; for many, it's the major source of income.

      Solo ads:

      > Again, it's a sort of one-shot deal. The list owner mails until you receive the number of clicks you pay for. Any opt-ins you generate are yours to email at will.

      > It's a variation of an endorsed mailing, as the message comes from the list owner.

      Depending on your niche and business model, either legit rented lists or quality solo ads can be very effective with the right offer.

    List are outdated very fast. You might not be able to upload it to your autoresponder and if you used it with a smtp make sure you use a list cleaner like listwisehq.com or any other similar services.

    ok, so at the end of the day, solo ads is the way to go.
    Solo ads are a crap-shoot at best. Spend your money on targeted PPC and you will be much happier with your ROI. Solo ads are scammer paradise.

    solo ad is basically renting the list for one email blast by the list owner to his/her list buying a list is bad idea.
