How Do You Get Software Developers For IM Products?

Hello Warriors,

I am looking a way to enter into the IM niche as a product creator, but I will need software developers that can help me make software for products, specifically for Internet marketers.

How do I find a good one? What are the things to look out for when looking to hire a software developer?

      I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree.

By the way, Freelancer.com can create more than just software for IM Products.

Here is something that no one most likely knows. Freelancer.com has actually done projects for NASA. That's right. NASA! Their Engineers have actually created a robotic arm that NASA uses.

      Happy Freelancing!

P.S. NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA was started in 1958 as a part of the United States government. NASA is in charge of U.S. science and technology that has to do with airplanes or space.

You could look in the warriors for hire section, or maybe you could form a JV with a developer that will handle the tech stuff while you do the marketing. Just a couple thoughts.

Most of the software products and services for internet marketing products are pretty straight forward, not so difficult to develop. What you have to learn is explaining what you need exactly, so the developers can understand it.

There are some IM software products that are complex, like machine learning and certain type of data science but if you're just starting to create products you won't need these services just yet.

You also have to educate your self about software prices before you talk to developers. You have to be aware of the very low price offers on some of the online platforms because you will get what you pay for, if anything. You should also stay away from the big software development companies unless you want to pay 10 times more then you should.

I personally don't recommend any of the online hire a developer platforms, I am careful about not naming any here...

You can start by looking in freelancing websites like upwork. You might also look for a good programmer in forums like Warrior (that's usually on the looking to hire section).

You need a brilliant coder who understands your functional requirements, someone who cares, and someone who understands marketing.

Gee, where could you find a person like that?

    Appreciate the Freelancer love guys

Things to look out for when trying to find someone to help you dev IM tools would be understanding:

What languages are they proficient in
Sounds pretty basic, but having some sense of what language you should build your tool in is pretty essential. Think 'python vs. php' and why you'd go either way.

    Are they a thinker?
For example, are they going to ask you how you intend to build your application or are they going to make suggestions? You're going to run into a few people who will probably make suggestions / alternative recommendations on how to go about building your app. Don't look for the shortcuts, they generally lead to flaws in the applications (trust me I know).

Always look for a strong case as to why they'd recommend an alternative. If it's a time based recommendation, don't bother. If it's anything to do with security, functionality, future-proofing your application/tool - then you know you have a thinker.

Have they practiced in any form of Internet Marketing Before?
Also a good indication as to whether they're going to be able to see the same vision as you for your application/tool. If it's a keyword tool, then you'd hope they would have done some SEO work in the current year (as we all know, Google likes to play godmode with SEOs).

I used to be a Recruiter on Freelancer helping people find great freelancers. If you need recommendations, send me a PM and I can recommend a few, direct you to a few good Freelancers on Freelancer.

Most folks that freelance want to be everything under the sun and have no real experience.

I just browsed the top SEO on one of the freelance sites and the guy also writes articles for Ezine Articles (fail). That literally has nothing to do with SEO.

They're all experts or engineers, yet they'll work for $5.

I've been developing software for over 20 yeara.

I found my head programmer 17 years ago on Elance, which is now Upwork.

My best advice is to be extremely descriptive about every aspect of the program. If you leave out anything because it seems obvious to you how a certain feature / function should work, you may end up with something you weren't expecting. I learned the above on the very first program I had created. When I received the first version I was like WTF?

Always have a contract. I got burned twice big time, before this finally sunk into my head! It's not that there was a problem with the programs that were developed, it was the that one programmer was reselling my code for a fraction what I paid him to develop. The other programmer stopped working with me and started selling the program once he found out how successful it was.So make sure you cover your ass.

I've been a developer for 20 years as well.

Always have a clear idea of what you want to build, then write it down.

Read about Agile software development. You basically need to rush out a version 0.1. See if it is successful, then do incremental releases once you know there is a market.

When I released my first software product version 0.1 sold a copy 2 weeks after I released it.
