Tax ID/SSN for UK residents?

I've got a question about a Tax ID/SSN for UK residents.

Some CPA networks require that you provide a Tax ID/SSN in your application, regardless of which country you live in. For UK residents, is the Tax ID that you need to enter the same number as the 10 digit Tax Reference number that is on the tax return letters that HMRC send you or is it a different number?

If you ask the CPA network, they will tell you "EXACTLY" what they need from you. Or we can all play guessing games at the warrior forum

Most CPA networks aren't based in the UK, so they wouldn't know what Tax ID is required for a UK resident. CPA networks that are based in the UK such as WOW Trk don't ask for a Tax ID/SSN as a required field in the application.

Again, if you ask them they will know or will get you the answer. We, on the other hand, can only guess. Do you think, with internet marketing as international it is, these companies do not deal with this question on a regular basis?
