I'm thinking of getting into amazon affiliate marketing. I'm really good at researching a product that I'm about to buy to make sure that I don't get burned.

I thought that with the level of research that I go into, I might be able to create a site around it and help other people who are looking for the same thing as me to make the best choice. Naturally commenting on the pros and cons of all the products that I find.

This is going to be mainly the DIY power tool section and hopefully create a arch that leads to a site that deals with what I do with the power tools, or from the power tools. Directing traffic back and forth, or part of the same site.

I'm based in the UK, should I be primarily targeting UK amazon or would I be missing out by not making my reviews/product suggestions geographically unspecific?

I'm yet to start this venture, but thought it might be important to figure this out now. If I want to be UK, or US, or is there a way to be everywhere?

As I am UK based, is it going to convert more as I 'speak their language' or does it really matter?

I've read lots about IM but am yet to make a site or my first £/$ any help about where I should focus and who my target audience should be would be very much appreciated.

In terms of "speaking their language" I don't think it matters that much as the difference in US and UK English is largely the spelling of some words and you can always edit that after.

Since they're both countries with good spending power...

Regarding the Amazon program, last time I looked into it, it seemed almost nobody was able to do well with it. Has that changed?

How do you plan on promoting this and driving traffic?
    I don't see much of a difference.
I am in Canada and promote a fair bit in the USA and other countries. Why not do both?

i wasn't sure how hard it would be to do both. I guess i've seen a bunch of sites that have no actual product pricing on their reviews (as they'd change depending on country). I guess I'll give it a go writing from anywhere and find the tools I need to make sure I get the commission wherever I am.

I understand that if i'm just an amazon UK affiliate, I don't get credit for US purchases, (and vice versa) but i read about a product or plug in somewhere that makes sure you get the credit.

I guess writing as i'f i'm on a tropical island somewhere might not be a bad start to be able to visualise my end goal of writing from anywhere and travelling.

One thing to consider, with the US Amazon affiliate programme you can't get paid by direct deposit if you live in the UK. So the only payment options are either a check or using a service such as Payoneer, which is expensive.

You should do both and test which country performs better for certain products. Another suggestion is if you are building a website to review products, I recommend finding a niche that you have extensive knowledge in first. If your website is too broad it will be hard for your to start off.

as far as being an Amazon affiliate is does not matter where you are based. I have a US friend that promotes in Amazon US, AMazon UK, Amazon Fr and Amazon DE. if you know the lenguage it does not matter where you are based

I think that you should target both countries. Nothing wrong with doing both.

It's been a couple of years since I did anything with Amazon but I seem to recall issues with international promotions.

For example if you've signed up in the UK then your affiliate link will be for the .co.uk site as opposed to the .com site. If I recall you don't get paid for sales made in the states.

Things may have changed but when I looked into it I had to set up two accounts it was too much hassle for me.

Things may have changed. Best bet would be to contact them they've great cs

There are several options for you in this sense….

For any form of marketing you always want to test small and then scale up if you've got a winner. So you should definitely do both the US and UK and see what type of return you get.

I hope that helps and good luck!

Really? People in Minnesota would disagree.
