That depends on what affiliate network you're using.

Sales are tracked via cookies, and different networks have different cookie expiration times.

If someone clicks on your affiliate link to an Amazon product for example, and buys within 24 hours, you'll get the commission (assuming the person did not click any competitor links or clear his cookies).

Also, if the person clicks your Amazon link and buys anything else within that 24 hour period, you'll also get credit for those purchases.

    Regards,
    Daniel

    Yes and yes.

The concept is called cookie lifetime and differs from site to site (amazon is very short, other sites mostly is pretty high!)

Sure. around around 2% or less of your traffic will buy on the first visit. It takes seeing your offer 5 to 12 times before most make a buying decision. That is where having a landing page and email series is good. If your on social media you need to pre quality people if they need your products and services and then contact them 5 to 12 times before they will buy.

Check with the vendor or affiliate network. They all have different cookie durations and rules

In many cases, your affiliate link will get credit even when they decide to buy a few weeks later.

If you are sending people to an offer, this is not the way to build your business online. Your business is NOT the affiliate link you are promoting. YOUR business is in building your own list and promoting what ever offer you want now and in the future.

I agree with Harveysilverfox, cookies depend on the affiliate program ie; Clickbank, Warriorplus, JVZoo etc.

Lets say that you you are promoting using content and you include your affiliate link at the end of the content. A prospect could click that link and read the sales page. They spill coffee, get up and clean up the mess and go back to what they were doing. They exit out of your page and go to face book. Then...

They see an ad that caches their eye and click on it. Takes them to the same page they just read or partially read. Hmmm they think to themselves, this sounds like something I need. Then they purchase the product.

Now in most cases, that ad was run by another affiliate and his cookie over rode yours. That affiliate just made a sale and you didn't.

If your cookies are set to 30 days you will get the sale. But in most cases you won't.

Now this example is an exaggeration of course, and in most cases, that person wouldn't buy the product anyway. They may see the same sales page at least 7 times before they are ready to buy.

Also your cookies could be over ridden simply by the person removing history and cookies in their browser. The best way for myself anyway, is to have the prospect download a free eBook, or use email. If the content is good the prospect will remember where they seen that link and may go back to it later. However this works better with a free eBook give away, even over emails.

You should speak with your AM about this.
Most offers will give you credit if someone buys within so many days, and this is different for each offer hence why your AM would be best to answer.

Yeah you'll still get paid as long as the cookie is still there. Depends on how long the affiliate marketplace you choose retains a cookie (typically 30 days, or 60 days).

But never lead to an affiliate sales page first. First of all, the conversion rate will suck. Second, you probably won't earn much money (if you do get sales), because more than likely the vendor will want a 50% split. And 3rd, email marketing is one of the best ways to sell anything online. I suggest you use it.

Affiliates aren't that hard to find efuntadde. A lot of times they will find you if you are giving a really good commission rate. The first thing I would do is set up an affiliate program. Offer as many tools as you can to make it easy for affiliates to promote your offer. You can build this up over time.

Find super affiliates in your niche. Talk to other vendors, watch leaders boards of huge product launches, etc.

Here are a few tips to get your super affiliates attention:

1.) Send money to them via paypal
2.) email them and tell them that you will give them 100% commissions with the click bank special link.
3.) Talk about htem (in a good way) on forums, social media, mention them in your product or emails.
4.) Ask them to get involved. You’ve got your foot in the door. They WILL read your email and they WILL go take a look at what you’ve said about them. You’ve got their attention and, most likely, their interest. Take advantage of this moment and inform them of an attractive affiliate offer. Make them a special offer (higher commission, special price for their contacts, etc.)

    Hope this helps.
