Paypal money hold for 21 days

Hi,

When you sell on ebay and you are a new seller, paypal holds the funds for 21 days...

Is it only with ebay ? If I create a website and I use my paypal pro account on this website, I will also have to wait 21 days?

Note: I know that if you give the tracking number and stuff like that they can reduce the delay, but I would like to know if it is possible to have the funds directly.

This is a big problem because I need the funds to order the products...

Thanks.

No. It's instant when selling on your own site.

The policy applies to auction sites because there are many, many thieves on those sites. The product is fake, the address is fake, the name is fake, purchases are made using stolen credit cards, and the culprits disappear in a flash which is one of the reasons eBay recommends using Escrow.com.

HOWEVER, be very, very careful about how you allocate your PayPal receipts; find out what the average return rate is in your product category and put aside that much of your earnings so you can make up the loss without ending up in a hole. You will be running into the same challenges as auction site members. If a product + shipping adds up to more than you can afford to lose, it may be wise to use Escrow.com yourself.

I predict big problems for you with this "business model."

Selling products you don't own or possess and then using your "victims" money to buy it from a different website.

    Good luck with that.

      Thank you,

"The different site" gives me a good price on the products.

Yes, this is dropshipping but not something like ebay arbitrage, I have a good price on the products and the main desk of the supplier is close to me.

I took this company because I know someone who use it since a few months with success.

Yes there is a risk, but It won't be the only source of incomes, so I hope my other project (bigger) will work, and if something happen I will be able to cover.

Thank you very much for the good advices.

I hope it will be good, I don't want to dropship forever, it's just for the start and then I will buy the products in advance.

Yes - as mentioned above when it is notfrom an ebay sale yu get the funds right away. When I do non -Ebay sales I can get the money immediately.
good this is what I wanted to hear

I'm not big on the whole "drop shipping" model myself, but if the seller has sourced a legitimate supplier who can provide quality services and products, then it can work, and it can be very profitable, and very easy. I've gone through several courses that teach people how to do this, but the ones I've seen mostly instruct people to find good sellers on Amazon, and then list those products on eBay at a higher price and pocket the difference. I've never tried this, as it seems to me it would be almost impossible to find a product that dozens of other people aren't already selling, and I don't really like the idea of selling a product to somebody that I have not seen and handled myself.

The bottom line is that when you source products from someone you don't know or have any kind of relationship with, then you have no control over what product your customer receives. Basically, you are staking your name and reputation on a company you know nothing about and a product you have never even seen or used. That's a definite recipe for disaster. How can you know if they are going to send a real product or a knock-off, or if they are going to send "refurbished" electronics instead of brand new products?

This is most likely why the 21-day policy is in place. That, and of course, as many have mentioned, scammers are running wild on many auction sites, including eBay. I think it's a good policy as it protects consumers and puts new sellers to the test to make sure they are not running a scam.

Also, it shouldn't be an issue to anyone starting a real business, because they should have enough capital put aside to cover 21 days of product sales. If the seller has indeed sourced a product supplier they trust, they should have no problem putting up their own money to purchase the products that their customers buy until the 21-day hold is lifted. If they don't trust the supplier enough to do this, then they probably shouldn't be selling the product to people in the first place.

I think ebay wants to allow for returns, which based on the way ebay operates I expect they have a lot of them.

This happened to me one time, because I generated more eBay sales in one month, than I usually do. It's best to contact Paypal directly and talk to someone.

That's definitely the one thing that sucks about ebay! Especially if you're a new seller and didn't know that was their policy It happened to me too

But if you put your own paypal link onto your blog to sell stuff, then it would be instantly in your account and you wouldn't have to wait the 21 days that ebay requires you too….I think ebay has it that way as a precaution so people don't get ripped off by buying less than quality items.

Anyways, I hope that helps and good luck!

I only remembering it happening to me when I began selling on ebay. There are a lot of scammers that set up shop, make a quick buck then skip town. This helps prevent that. After 21 days you should have access to your money right away.
