INTERNET MARKETING

Hi there.

So long story short..
I need to create a basic home page for one of my customers...
And I was thinking maybe, if it is possible, I could create a custom design, but for wordpress platform because as I`ve been reading here google loves wordpress and it`s awesome for seo...

I know it is possible to make a static page in wordpress, but is it possible to make my own design for example in photoshop and kinda make it to work with wordpress and still keep the regular home page look?!. If yes, can you please tell me how or show me some directions.

I would apreciate it.

You can certainly do it. It will take some work.

Juris,

You can make your own design in Photoshop, but then you're gonna have to give your design to someone who will convert it to XHTML/CSS. Once that's done, you're gonna have to know a little bit about WordPress Theme Development and the Template Tags, to turn the plain XHTML/CSS into a WordPress theme.

I can recommend Joe Brooks (joebrooks.me) for PSD-to-Wordpress conversions. He's done a few sites for a friend of mine and did a very nice job.

  I would recommend Joe Brooks too. He's done several sites for me now, taking a Photoshop image or a html page and making an identical wordpress theme.

I use the Atahualpa theme which is almost infinitely customisable. No need for photoshop then - just design it directly with the theme.

Thanks for your replys, but I will probably go with photoshop + wordpress tactics... :/
and then do some seo and backlinks, because it seems that I need to know php and other stuff to make it all happen on wordpress... maybe i`m wrong..

check out the divine project (photoshop add on). Apparently it takes psds and turns them into WP themes.

Still in beta unless it's come out of it since I read about it.

I've created home pages for wordpress. It's not hard. If I can do it, anyone can, honestly. Here's an example: AdvantageMp3Players.com. That was done with creating a couple of simple div columns at that top and one below, then pasting in code to display different category posts or whatnot.

Hmm Is there a way to SELF design wordpress theme in photoshop and make the wordpress blog static ( i know how to do that ). Can divine do it?
Or maybe there is some nice theme that is easily editable to look like a good static web page. The page won`t be a LP or anything like that... It`s for a customer and I thought the seo part would be much easier with wordpress.

Just to clarify some misunderstandings...

You can create a WP theme from anything and everything: from an existing webpage's design, from a Photoshop mockup, whatever.

Next, you can always select a quasi-static Page in Wp to be your main/home page.

One more step: you can create in any WP installation/theme a special Page template with its own design (different header, footer, stylesheet etc.)

As far as I know the search engines like the constantly updated fresh blog posts in WP and other blogging tools... not the static Pages.

I think I will be better off with html and seo for that because this seems like too much of a hassle to find something that will be good for designing it in photoshop and then putting it up as a wordpress theme and using the site for the company I need it done for...

  It defently is possible to run your website from wordpress check out the services people offer some will even upload the them and optimise Wordpress for you.
  
  Wordpress is without a doubt the best blogging format available, and can make a powerful website with a few tweaks and a graphical change to the templates.
