Contact database management solution - any help appreciated

Hey fellow marketers,

I have been looking for a solution to my database management for a long time, but didn't find what I need. I hope someone can help.

What I do is send out mostly press release like informational emails to my contact list.
Like there's a new product launch and I send out info to bloggers, media, radio etc. via mailchimp.

What I would need is a solution to have my contacts inside a database, where I can add info and make the database searchable.

I'll give an example: I add a contact, say it is a radio station. At first there's only an email adress. I send my email and in the best case I get a reply.

Now I add that data into my database, my contact now has an email adress, a name - say the person's name who is in charge of the local news dept., maybe a telephone number, a website, a date when I last heard from this particular contact, the kind of info to send there ... etc. In most cases the email adresses will stay the same, even if the person no longer works for the company, soI update the names regularly.

You get the point.

The next time I send out news related to this kind of topic I make a search in my database and find info:
- Which contacts are interested in that particular bit of press release,
- Who I am writing to,
- When did I have my last conversation or correspondence with them, and what was it about

I also want to keep in view when and how to follow up

In the very best of cases this service would be a cloud solution = I can access the same database from everywhere, no need to store and update on local computer

and somehow work with mailchimp, maybe give the ability to import the email list that I exported from mailchimp into the database

I'd be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction here

Sorry for typos, my space bar is stuck

    Hi,

Nimble might work for you. They work with Mailchimp although I think it's only to export a list to Mailchimp. Nimble is in the cloud, it costs $15 a month and if you use an IMAP email account or gmail it will synchronize your incoming and outgoing email with contact records.

To differentiate contacts they have a tagging system. I use tags like "prospective client", "media", "vendor", etc.

It also keeps track of your social media too!

I was going to suggest Infusionsoft because of their tagging system, but I am sure you can find some other good options (like maybe the one mentioned above) for much less money.

I think I took a look at infusionsoft some time ago and for some reason didn't go for it. Maybe I found it too expensive for my needs. Is it priced fairly high? I can't remember.

I have no idea if what you want exists and I would expect that on the database side it does, but I think you may have a problem with it integrating with mailchimp.

You might have better luck contacting mailchimp and see if they know of anything.

Worst case, you should be able to have it custom built. The database part is easy, but then you would need to create a program that would work with mailchimps API and do what you need on that side.I have no idea what is possible and what's not through their API. So you would want to figure that part out first. Of course this is going to be more expensive on the front end, but you pay once and there's no months costs except your hosting.
