Hi,

Can you tell me if the book "How To Write
A Good Advertisement" (1962 from Victor
Schwab) is in the public domain or not ?

    I doubt that book is public domain considering the date. I think the original version is dated 1942.

      Hi,

      I ask the question because I have found
      several new recent versions on Amazon.com.

      All from different editors and one in kindle format.

      My project is to translate this great book in my
      language to sell it in my country.

      And I don't know if it is in the public domain or
      if I need to buy the reprint rights ?

    You are going to have to do your own homework on this question because no one here in the forum can give you an authoritative answer that you need since this is a legal matter. Infringing on someone's copyright could cost you a lot of money and stress if you are called on the matter.

        I can't imagine this being in the public domain.

        The book as far as I can see was last reprinted in 2013 by Echo Point Book and Media.

        You could contact them to see who the rights owner is. Most likely it will be them.

    It appears it may be in the Public Domain. Here is a version on Google Books:

    The copyright notice says:
    "This annotated edition is built from the original public-domain version."

    It is also available in PDF on Scribd and other document sharing sites.

    Although the forwards and copyright notices say it is Public Domain, I could not find any other verification.
