Yes, you have to be careful. All the places that offer 10,000 "hits" for $29.99 are paid-to-click scams.

Targeted traffic will cost you much more than that.

Article writing, forum/blog posts, twitter....those are some great ways and free.

I agree 100% with this assessment. Just go to the JV section of the forum and you will see tons of people selling solo ads. Talk about a great and easy way to get some traffic. I have found some on there that offer 1000 clicks for $200. That is a steal.

PPC can end up losing you an awful lot of money if you're not careful and there are so many ways to generate targeted (the important bit!) traffic for free

Are you sure about it? Because i have already bought some from other Traffic Exchange sites. My bouncing rate was so high.

I tred very carefully when purchasing "traffic".

If I've got plan to spend money to attract traffic my first line of thought is Google Adwords every time.

I had a site I built for the traffic source webnetjoe and bought 10k targeted. I got 3 sells and a horrible bounce rate but I came out ahead. Made $20 a sell and it cost me something like $15. So a total profit of $45 in like a 2 week span. Some people would scale that. I didn't.

1) most traffic will not be targted.

2) use it for bookmarketing and graphics, never rely on fiverr for traffic. My god.

Hi Guy's getting traffic to your site is always a problem, most of all when your starting out and trying your best to get quality traffic on low budgets,
The guru's find it easy partly due to experience and having the money in the first place to attract the traffic in the first place.
There is FREE traffic but that always seems to mean a lot of hard work, and the idea is to work less not more.
I came across this traffic system that you pay monthly but is non expensive and actually delivers the traffic and gives the newbie the chance to put some money back in your pocket and see real results. you do this right and keyword your titles and descriptions and you can get a video to go viral.

Did this back in january, and we took a sales page earning $9 a day, to over $200 a day, just by 1 video. We just studied the successful viral videos, and did not copy, but incorporated their strategy....didnt think it would but but VIDEO is so POWERFUL if you do it the right way.

There is a smart way to do video, and a WRONG way, 90% of the videos I see do it all wrong, and they will not get results, and probably even whine that they do not see any good coming from their vids.

Sarevok makes a good point. I've bought all kinds of different traffic sources through the years. Each traffic source will convert differently, depending on what you're promoting. Here's what I recommend. Spend a little bit of money on PPC. See what keywords converts for your site. Take those keywords and outsource articles to be written for your site. Brush yourself up on on-page SEO and make sure your site is optimized. Outsource your SEO work to a company that doesn't use blackhat tactics so you can start building quality links to your site. Then just focus on adding high quality content to your site as you continue to build links. But of course all of this takes time and money, but I highly recommend you go this route regardless if you choose to buy traffic because you ultimately want organic traffic.

Besides PPC, the type of traffic that seems to convert the best for me is popunder ads. Be sure that your site has a call to action if you buy traffic. I usually buy wholesale traffic, which is un-targeted because it's impressioned based. But you can buy them for so cheap that it doesn't really matter. The problem I think most people have is that they don't have a clear and concise call to action when buying these types of traffic. Make sure your landing page directs them to take some sort of action. I've practically tried them all and now only use about a few of them. One of these sites I order from daily, offer "unlimited" traffic for an entire year. It's averages out to about 5-6 million impressions a month. I wait for when they have their specials which runs only about $99. It's a no brainer to me because I know I can convert that traffic into sales. I also buy premium traffic as well. It costs a bit more, but you can select your target market, which is pretty nice. Like anything you do, you need to test and see what works best for you.
