How to generate my first Amazon Sale?

I have a content website in the home improvement niche, and get about 120 unique visits.
I've been trying to offer Amazon kindle related books related to home improvement, but didn't made a single sale (Even though I had about 70 clicks already during the last 3 weeks). I think my audience is about 50/50 male/female.

What can I offer them that will at least generate me a first sale, so that my amazon affiliate account will get approved?

What type of call to action are you using? Images? Text links?

You could create a page on your site where you have a list of something such as the top ten must haves for DIY enthusiasts, then recommend the best products for various types of projects. Or make it less general and have a top 5 list for different categories, such as home office, kitchen, woodworking, etc.. People really like things such as top 5 or top 10 lists and they are proven to convert well.

It is difficult to answer your question as to what to offer, so instead here are some questions which may help instead?

Are the visitors to your site buyers or information seekers? Are they finding your site with keywords showing they have buying intent or on that path? It's easier to convert people looking for information to help in buying

If buyers is your content relevant to what they are searching for? (As cooler1 says top 5 /10 lists are an examples of that type of post).

Are your links to Amazon products relevant to what they are searching for? Does it make sense to link to that product - does it help them solve a problem they have or is it the product/type they want?

In summary it is easier to convert visitors if you rank for buying keywords, have relevant content, content that is both good quality and looks good and links to products that are relevant

Did you try promoting your offers or content through social media? Facebook fan pages are great way to place call to action messages and direct people with an intent to buy towards your site/blog.

That's the problem - my visitors are information seekers. Indeed it's easier to convert for buying keywords, but almost in every niche it is really hard to rank for buying keywords when there are huge established brand name competitors. That's why the only keywords I rank for are related to information. I will try the top 5 idea, but would like some more thoughts if you guys have any.

In what kind of forums and what kind of post will not be considered spam, yet have a significant influence to really bring more traffic to my website (and not 5-10 visitors)?

Facebook ads cost money, my idea is to generate sales of my free organic traffic. Also, Facebook ads were my worst spent money for any category I've ever tried. If you choose to get charged by clicks, FB will make sure they send you the kind of people that are known to click on every ad they see, yet will never make an action on the site. it's just a big fraud IMO. and I don't have a way to review products on my own, and hiring some freelancer to do it doesn't sound practical, is probably expensive, and hard to tell if it will ever be worth the investment.

BIB1: On FB ads, you can add a targeting option in "Behaviours" for 'Online spenders', so your ad will only show to people who have previously clicked FB ads and bought something.

BIB2: You can review products without owning them, and still provide very useful information that helps your readers.

120 unique visits isn't much. You'll need a lot more traffic and a lot more clicks to start seeing sales. Back in 2008/2009 I had a blog that was getting 3,000+ visits per month and I was only making a couple of sales each month.

It sounds like you're off to a great start, you just need to increase your traffic.

As someone mentioned, give them free information first...then follow up and sell them an Amazon product if they actually take the free offer first.

There are a few things to look at first. Where is the traffic coming from and you NEED to know the demographics and make sure they are lining up with your offers.
