Requesting Resources For Beginner

Hello.

I made a good amount of money with my niche websites in 2007-2009. Back then there were a lot of great (free) resources on many blogs (not just niche marketing)I was a regular follower of the thirty day challenge and The Keyword Acedemy as well.

I'm looking to start some kind of project that can slowly start earning me money over the next 18 months or so. I can't find any good resources that teach the latest methods to starting a business. Most internet marketing blogs I'm finding oversaturated with content that doesn't help me like more advanced things.

Can anyone point me to some free resources? I have no problem paying for things but right now I just want to learn and figure out a direction to go in. Is SEO really dead? Are the days of starting a new site and having it rank well 3-6 months later gone?

I'm not looking for quick money making methods. I'm looking for something I can build slowly over the next 18 months with 8 hours of work per week. I'm tempted to just research some keywords and start churning out articles...but from what I understand it'd be impossible to rank well with my outdated knowledge of link building etc.

Can someone offer some suggestions?

The days of creating low-quality content and ranking it are gone.

However, you can still rank a site if you create high quality content that people will actually share / link to, and you do a good job of promoting it to get some initial momentum going.

Granted, it might take a bit longer than 6 months to start getting some organic serious traffic.

Not many people are doing SEO the right way out there, so you can rank easily if you know what you are doing. Educate yourself and then stick to your plan :-) Cheers

The internet is filled with good resources, you just need to know where to look. You can try the Moz blog for example. However, a site with high-quality content will definitely rank well in 18 months even with minimum seo.
You can also try email marketing (if you have a list) and social media campaigns.

SEO is not dead. The only thing that is dead is the old way of building backlinks.
If you say you aren`t in a hurry, you should focus on creating content, on-page SEO and a properly built website. These things alone will help you rank in the long run.

    Chad,

There are some guys and ladies that still post articles on their blog on a daily basis and get traffic from that.

Personally, I don't think that this is the way to go. It might be a long term thing you can do on a very small scale. (Paid marketing is the best way to get FAST results)

Your main goal is to get as many visitors, targeted visitors, to your website.

Just know there are a lot of people doing really well with paid ads. The key is to know which places gets you results and which ones don't. This will take some time, effort, and money on your part.

Lastly, the people who did master online marketing spend anywhere between $100 and all the way up to $1,000 per day on paid ad. While many focus on free ads and get 0 results, these guys and ladies make the most money.

It does take money to make money.

Supply and demand and using this tool of the Internet. Thats all it is. Fastest, easiest and less stressful so to speak I would have to go with affiliate marketing. Send over the prospect they buy. Does not get any easier than that really.

Key today is to create your own funnel around a product. Give something of strong value away while leading into your paid offer without even selling to them. Once you have a buyer lead those are very responsive in the future.

I don`t know what to say. A 4 - 8.5% commission might not be to the liking of everybody.

I think youtube is an invaluable resource for learning for free in this niche. YOu can get a lot of quality interviews, lectures, and presentations on everything from affiliate marketing to content creation, to product launching.

I know I have covered all of those subjects on my youtube channel BUT so have a lot of others as well.

Content strategies still definitely work, thing is you want to go much wider than just SEO into building engagement on social platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Medium, Snapchat) - produce content and then drive people back to your site.

Challenge with straight SEO these days is that a good portion of your audience now finds you and your products on other platforms (such as the ones mentioned above) - so you MUST learn these platforms, how to stand out, how to network and how to produce content that gets attention.

Social media is definitely where it's at right now. Some of us "old-timers" have to adapt.
