Anybody else actually enjoy keyword research?

Being new, I don't use any fancy programs yet, no market samurai, micro niche finder, etc., just the google keyword tool and exact searches in quotes.

I actually have fun trying to find the really good keywords. Like today, I found a few with over 5,000 monthly searches, and 0 (yes, I said ZERO) exact phrase competition. I get a thrill out of these little "holy crap!" moments when I find those great long-tails!

Maybe I'm just a crazy newbie, but anybody know what I'm talking about?

  • Yes I agree. Keyword research can be pretty cool, especially when you find one of those great keywords with a lot of searches and no competition that you know you can cash in on.
Kind of like hunting for treasure and finding that golden nugget that you know will make you money. It may take a lot of time and effort, but it is all worthwhile when you find the right keywords.

  • I love keyword research... I like it too much. I have keywords I want to target that will take me well into 2020. Now it's time to just get on 'em.
  • NOPE!!!!!!!
  • Sometimes I can get real into it. I agree it's a great feeling when you hit the jackpot on a keyword!
  • I agree newbum. I love keyword research because you never know what you're going to find...and when you do find one of those jewels that put you in the number one spot on Google, it's on! I have several long tail keywords at that number one spot, and it's exciting. What seems to be a dichotomy though, is that the number one spot on Google can be worth thousands of dollars a month -- or it can be worth absolutely nothing, depending on the value of your keyword.

  • No, I don't enjoy keyword research....

And I'm only half kidding. 40% even.

  • Well, yeah, I like digging up good keywords.

It becomes boring when all I get is too much competition and less searches.

    But overall, I love it!

  • Keyword research is not really one of my favorite things..lol I experimented with a lot of the different keyword tools out there and just decided the Goolge tool is probably the best one...

I did use tool called Wordpot for just some variety...
  • Take it a step further on the enjoyment, find that great keyword and then register the exact keyword domain as to your amazement nobody else has grabbed it !

I enjoy finding good keywords but I much prefer to use software as this is a massive time saver although doing it manually is still ok.
  • It's too addictive. I love it but I can spend hours and hours researching several different niches, find some golden treasures and then keep on researching because I just can't stop!

    Please help me xD

    • OK, here's a hint.

Go and use the keywords you've found.

      Did that help?

  • I simply love keyword research. And because I have access to the right tools
that write keyword rich, and human readable articles, I can target a large number
of keywords that everybody else would bother with. This is due to low search
volumes, but added together, these low search volume keywords all add up to
several thousand searches a month, and zero competition. There are several
keywords that I own in Google.
