The Free Gift/Bonus/Present for Opt-In .. What is Best?

I want to get into trading a little guide as an exchange for the email and name of a prospect.

But I need to know how to design the guide.

Are there any products out there on this?

Ideally, I've heard the guide should NOT be downloadable, but in HTML and have "next" buttons that eventually lead to a sales page.

I also read that they should kind of pre-sell the product, create value and trust.

But what else do I need to know -- and where can I learn how to make a killer freebie?

I have always used a downloadable pdf file. If you need a freebie to give away, there are several sites that have free ebooks you can use.

As far as the html variety - I don't remember seeing any lately as you describe.

I would advise going with downloadable content - it's definitely industry
    standard.

What I've always done with squeeze page products is pretty simple: in
your give away product, you want to tell them what to do in order to
solve their problem. In your paid product, you want to show them how
    to do it
    .

It works well because it provides valuable content and pre-sells your
paid product at the same time.

    All the best,

Winebuddy is right. A downloadable pdf is best. You can find free ebooks and free reports at many of the plr sites and by "Google-ing" free reports or free plr reports.
    Hope this helps.

Oilman I have tested many things and here is what works best for me.

Create a dedicated page for where you have your optin form and keep it simple. There really shouldn't be any out going links for them to click on on that page. You want them to optin.

I would make the optin form either first name and email or just email.

I find that really quality reports or videos work best. You can make them downloadable or viewable online. I like to downloadable and on the thank you page explain how to go to their email and confirm the optin so they can get the report or video.

    Hope that helps.
