There are probably thousands of alternatives to Name Cheap. Pick one you like or go with a friend's recommendation. Every company named here will have both supporters and detractors. Find the features, prices, and testimonials that are what you want and run with it.

However, as a NC user for domains, I love them. I have been buying domains there since 2006 and have a little over 100. Never an issue.

As for hosting, I have never used them for hosting, but I tend to keep these two eggs in separate baskets. There are a LOT of good hosting companies out there. If you are looking for a recommendation, I have used 2 primarily for most of my hosting - LiquidWeb - I had a dedicated server - not cheap. JaguarPC - shared, VPN and dedicated server over the years. Never had an issue and great support.

Are you protecting your on line business? If you have a website, blog, ecommerce store you NEED to back it up regularly. Your webhost will only protect you so much. Check out Quirkel. Protect yourself.

As far as domain and SSL certificate purchases Namecheap can be classed as a definite go to.

However I'm a firm believer in keeping my domain registrar and hosting service in two separate pockets

Multiple domains for a handful of years ... no issues and always a good experience.

I have used their hosting as well with no problems ... though I personally wouldn't register a domain and host on the same service.

Regarding Hostgator... I've been using Hostgator for the last 9 years and their customer support was OUTSTANDING and I recommended them without hesitation to everyone. Sadly though, their support has gone way waaaaay down hill in the last year or two. It used to be you could always get someone on the phone quickly with a tech issue. Now, or as recently as a few months ago, I've been on hold for over an hour before giving up. I even tried calling a couple times in the middle of the night and was still on hold forever. They still have chat support but it's nice to actually talk to a human for certain issues so you can avoid the endless back and forth that inevitably happens when someone with ADD doesn't read or understand your tech issue. Also, they used to be great for going in and fixing stuff on your site that wasn't their fault and at no charge. (Like maybe you did something dumb.) I never abused this privelege and probably only needed them for a situation like this 3 or 4 times in the last 9 years but it was nice to know it was there in an emergency. That's not the case any longer because now they will tell you to "pound sand" and go somewhere else to get the problem fixed. No doubt this is what most hosts will tell you to do for issues that aren't their fault, but again, it was nice to know that they were willing to go above and beyond duty to help me if I screwed up.

I should probably start a new thread about this as I want to change hosts.

For the average person you will have no problems and they offer free privacy protection for the first year. I have purchased tons of domains from them in the past..

However, they now want to be the domain police and if you use any domain from them to mail with and you get on any blacklists that they follow, they will null route your domain until you get it unlisted. For this reason, I no longer use them for buying domains for mailing.

Again, for the average person this is unlikely, but I'm a large mailer and I buy data, so the risk is higher for me.

I recommend namecheap and godaddy. Just choose one they are both great!

I have used Name cheap before, no problems with them. I use Godaddy regularly and they are great as well. Godaddy has lots of coupon codes which is awesome too.

Very user friendly and at the moment they have lots of domain extensions for under a dollar that I am using to test some sites on,, for example .tech, .xyz etc...

Also good if you are building PBN as they have private protection for a year free and most other domain companies charge a fee for this.

Namecheap is good for domain registration. But I suggest you to buy hosting from a reputed hosting companies which is not a part of EIG group. For hosting you can go with siteground.

  I've been with GoDaddy for YEARS, but just discovered that their affiliate program has been discontinued for quite a while and didn't find out about it until I tested my redirect link, which went to a rather wonky site.
  
  So I checked and for some reason, the redirect link was to a site you definitely want to stay away from.
  
  Godaddy didn't have a good answer how that happened, but they did tell me they no longer have an affiliate program. They DO have a partner program I could buy into for about $180 or so, but I don't really want to go into the domain registry business.
  
  So I explored and checked out NameCheap, and they do have a functioning affiliate program. I signed up and changed my redirect to THEIR link!
  
  All fixed. Now, I'm thinking I might want to register some of my names over there too and give it a shot.
  
  As for hosting, I'm using Hostgator to date, though the phone wait times are really a pain! Eventually, I think I'll upgrade to Liquid web... I also have a reseller account with HostTheName, which is good but doesn't really offer phone support that I can find.
  
  They do respond to emails VERY quickly though and fix things very fast if needed.

Namecheap has been our choice for more than 10 domains we have. No complaints, fast customer service and there has been no problems so far since the time we choose them for our domains. I'm not pretty sure about their hosting though, other people choose other alternatives for hosting.

I can only speak for the domain side, but I've always used Namecheap for domains and think they're great. Way back, once I reached 50 domains in my account, they gave me a permanent discount too! In 9 years I have never had an issue with them.

Namescheap is fine. Just don't spend too much time picking a domain name.

A domain all by itself (no matter how good it sounds or where you get it) is worthless and useless.

It's the marketing (traffic, leads and your ability to convert all of that through influence)...skills etc...along with taking consistent action daily doing these income producing activities...

Are going to need your focus and determination more than just the domain purchase.

So get on with it

I have used Godaddy and Namecheap for a long time and have purchased hundreds of domains from both.

If you are looking for high quality/low cost hosting on Cpanel servers then Namecheap would be my 1st choice. The price is low and the hosting is very secure and reliable. Even though Namecheap built their reputation on domain registrations their hosting is first rate (it is actually a data center ran by Dell computers who are not newcomers to data centers and hosting).

Namecheap offers a great, low cost, world class hosting solution ran by Dell computers.

NameCheap is the best place to register a domain.

However, I have never heard anyone talking about their hosting either good or bad. There is cheaper hosting elsewhere if your budget is tight.
