How to make $2000 per month

Hey everyone...Long time since I posted here.

I just wanted to give everyone who doesn't really know how to get started a quick little step by step guide as to how to set up a nice little passive income stream.

If you never try anything, but you just keep reading stuff how "how to make money online", you will never make any money online!

Setting up a "system" such that you can get paid passively is the first step. Here's a little action plan as to how to do that:

1.) Purchase a domain name (about $15)
a.) Plus roughly $100 for a year of hosting (If you don't already have a membership with a host provider)

2.) Install Wordpress (free)

3.) Install a premium theme that allows you to have full customization abilities. I personally use Thesis 2, which costs $147 I believe, but you can use any theme. The main this is that you want the site to look nice, and not just like a blog. If you can get away with a free theme, go ahead, but if you aren't the best coder in the world, a theme geared towards customization capabilities is well worth it.

4.) Install some sort of membership plugin. Again, the premium ones are always going to make your life way easier if you aren't a coder. You want to be able to have people to have the ability to register as a member of your site. Premium membership plugins have the goal of seamless user experience in mind. Be prepared to spend up to about $200 for a good plugin.

5.) Create a free PayPal business account so that you can send and receive payments over the web.

6.) Connect your website with your PayPal account by using the integration features that are included with your membership plugin.

7.) Create a ton of great content for your site, but only allow access to some of it for free. Make it very clear all over your website just how awesome it is to be a member. Even offer to let them have a 7-day trial for only $1 if you want. Just make sure that your site offers a lot of value. Whatever niche you are in, just make sure that your content is worth subscribing to. Put your heart and soul into the content. Put yourself into the shoes of your reader....would you want to pay to subscribe to your site?

8.) Integrate your membership plugin with a mailing list such as aweber. Collect peoples email addresses, and keep them coming back to your site by providing them with emails that they actually want to open (because there's good content in them!), and make sure to casually remind them that they really should become a member of your awesome site (it's only $1 to try it out for a week!).

9.) Determine your pricing structure, but for the sake of this example, let's say that you charge $7 for a monthly subscription to your site. That means anyone who registers to your site will result in you making $7 per month.

10.) Keep adding awesome content to your site, while simultaneously building traffic via. YouTube, forums, social media, and/or paid sources.

11.) Make it your goal to get to the point where you have 285 subscribers. Once you do this, you will be making over $2000 per month passively online.

Hope that helps some people!

This is awesome Idea ! It will work for everyone commonly. As you said The quality of content should be better than competitors' websites otherwise people will ignore the site.

If you are great in your Niche, you can make a premium tool which has never online for free at any website. Collect a little monthly amount for the usage. Surely One day you will reach a Million Dollar.

You missed the most important part: TARGETED TRAFFIC

You have to have TRAFFIC in order to convert it into cold hard CA$H

Just another generic "plan" that offers no real value.

Entire post condensed - Set-up a membership site.

    Truly revolutionary.

Yep membership sites work great if 1) People want your content and 2) you got traffic.

So two massive steps right there that separate those making money and those that aren't.

First find your market and see what problems they have that you can solve. Do this and test the waters with PPL or Affiliate products before you build out an entire membership site. Thats my thinking anyway.

While membership sites can be a lucrative model, it might be easier to hit that income goal if you bump the product price from $7 to $27.

Granted, this will take better content to satisfy your customers but the level of work will only be marginally higher.

Less customers to deal with as well so your support desk won't be as flooded.

this concept is good but it does not work with all the niches until you are professional and expect on your niches.

You are looking around $500 - $1000 investment on developing as you said, but there are more cost in future, like building contents and so on.

it is 3 to 6 month project to get that much amount of subscriber.

Those who are newbie completely, it is hard for them to do this kind of business.

The idea is the think of a plan before starting. What do you consider yourself as an expert as and can crank out hundreds and hundreds of posts and videos with ease? Maybe you're a pro skateboarder. Maybe you're an Irish dancer.

You don't have to follow this exact model, but of course you can if you want.

Point being is that you you have a website with functioning PayPal buttons on it (or some other means to get paid) you are then in a position to make money online. On the other hand, if you are constantly in the "thinking" stage and/or jumping from one idea to the next, then you literally can not make money online. Once you have "the system" in place (a nice looking website, with functioning PayPal buttons that give the customer a product when pushed), you are then capable of making money.

I learned this simply by taking action and following through with the completion of the system. 3 years ago, I bought a product online called "getting rich with eBooks" for $497. Looking back on it today, I now realize that I was just a chump who gave some internet marketer my $497. However, what I DID learn was how to setup a passive income system. Since I paid $497, I forced myself to work hard at it and take the nesserary actions to complete it. As a result. I built my first website that was loaded with: aweberaweber, PayPal buttons, and products for sale (a couple eBooks). My sales pages were handwritten by me, as were my eBooks. My eBooks covers were created by me as well. Overall, my "products" weren't even that great. What I did do though, was take the project to completion. I had a content-full website that had stuff for sale on it as well. That website still results in a few dollars here and there everytime someone makes a sale. I never even got to the point where I marketed it though. I ended up giving up on the idea and moving onto the next (and the next and the next after that), but since I at least got it to the point where it has payment buttons linked to products...people still buy stuff from it!!

The overly-priced IM product walked me through the steps on how to do that. I know now that I could have gotten all that information for free, but I'm glad that I spent a lot of money though simply because it forced me to follow through to completion. Over the last three years I've definitely made back my $497, but that's not the point, the point is that it forced me to follow through with setting up the passive income system, and I did.

Targeted traffic is important yes, but obtaining targetted traffic is not nearly as difficult as people think. Get the passive system in place first. Get that up and running, then just start letting anyone and everyone know about your site (obviously keeping your targeted audience in mind via YouTube, forums, social media etc.). Honestly, if you have a website that has stuff for sale, you WILL make sales. I know this because everything I have ever attempted to sell online, I did!

People still buy my 1st ebook today. Whether it was listed for $3, $9.99, $10, $7....I've sold it at all costs. And I'm far from a professional IMer.

I learned that people will buy anything. Obviously, more people will buy your product if it is really great. However, the simple act of having an ebook for sale on a nice looking website will result in sales. Write 5 eBooks, and now they have a few books to choose from. Put them together in a zip file and call it "a package", and now you have a new product. I've bundled my eBooks up in many ways, and I've always sold at least one copy (or package). Why? Not because they were amazing products, but because they were for sale on my nice looking website. People's interest were piqued, and therefore they wanted to see what my books were about.

Have you ever made a website that has a product(s) on it which is connected to a payment button? If not, then you have no clue how easy it is to make sales. If you've never done this act before. I suggest that you follow through with ANY idea you may have, but take it to completion. "Completion" means that you have a nice website for people to browse around on with a payment button linked to a product. Once you have a system like this in place, you have the potential to make money online. Until you have this system in place, you do not (because how are you gonna get paid if you never follow through to completion of at least one idea)?

Once the system is in place, keep promoting the link until you make 1 sale. Once you make 1 sale, you will then know that its possible.

Once you finally realize that it's possible to sell s*** online, then apply that knowledge to either continuation of your first idea, or move onto to a new project that you believe has more lucrative potential.

Your product can be a set of videos, an eBook, or any other computer file.

In the case of the OP, I'm suggesting that the "product" is a membership to your site, but it's really no different then my first website. It's a nice website, and it has payment buttons on it so that people can buy the stuff that I'm selling, and they do.

PS - I've sold a 10 year old pair of used running shoes online before. People really will buy anything if you put it up for sale.

What you basically described is a membership site model (Nothing new there)...
You keep mentioning "passive income" ,there is nothing "passive" about a membership site because you have to keep adding content - no new content = no members...

      Question:
Aside from selling e-books, do you also put ads and/or affiliates to your website to earn more or it's just plain selling e-books, etc.?

No, I do not put ads on my sites.

Typically, when people think "make money online", the first thing that comes to their mind is to start a blog and monetize it with Adsense ads. I know that's what I used to think when I first got into this.

However, I do not want to put ads on my site as they will take people off of my site. I want them to stay on my site!!!

You can monetize with affiliate links if you want, but make sure that the content on your site is heavily geared towards getting them to purchase the product that you are promoting. I personally don't like to monetize this way though.

My primary monetization strategy is to have my own products on my site (eBooks, ebooks bundles, videos, video series, or membership registration).

That is primarily how I want my site to be "monetized".

This requires me to do the steps outlined in the OP, including having functioning PayPal buttons linked to my uploaded products.

In addition to having this website that is monetized in this manner, I also entice them to join my mailing list. This is equally as important as pitching your products to them.

Once they are on my mailing list, I make sure to send them awesome emails that are filled with great content. This entices them to keep opening my mail.

Additionally in these emails, I casually remind them of all the awesome stuff that I have for sale on my site.

I used to think in terms of "build a blog and then monetize the crap out of it in any and every way possible".

However, now I think in terms of "deliver great content, and have great products for sale".

I've found much more success with my current method.

Well, unfortunately making a sale here and there is not enough. You always have to calculate the time spent on developing websites, the time you are spending on maintaining sites, the money you spend on domains, hosting, advertisement etc. Also, if you are spending a lot of time in Internet marketing then you need to earn enough money to make it all worthwhile! Having something online that makes few dollars is nice but if you have high regards for your time, energy and money then you better be serious and get down to work so you really make money!

That's why you make "the thing that's for sale" to be a monthly membership. Therefore, you set your goal to be "collect X amount of subscribers" as I said in the OP.

I love this one! This is great and I am looking forward to generating continuous sales for my unique ebook guide on affiliate marketing. I have already set up everything with payment button and already making sales. This is aside from my automated affiliate marketing campaigns funneling free targeted traffic.

Look up Pat Flynns definition of "passive income". Yes this is passive income.

Thank you Rob I'm pretty sure this will be helpful to to new marketers. I would add that if you add the funnel to your membership site and multiple one time offers that help you pay-off traffic and content creation you will have nice passive income

I think it is a good starting blueprint for beginners. Of course the devil is in the details with Traffic etc..but the OP make it fairly clear there is no ulterior motive here and I believe him.

Maybe their needs to be additional commentary on actually getting the quality targeted traffic to achieve this $2k month. That would be nice.

    Free traffic sources:

    - YouTube
    - forums
    - social media
    - your own ebooks
    - other people's blogs
    - word of mouth

Get people to your site. Show them you have awesome stuff. Get them on your mailing list. Send them more awesome stuff in your mailing list.

    There's your targeted traffic.

I really don't see why most people think that the traffic itself is the hardest part? There are so many people looking for information on forums, YouTube, different Q&A sites that there is plenty of traffic to get. I must say that this really is a good plan, people are just making it more complicated than it really is. If you're creative, targeted traffic shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the awesome post Rob, I'll be contacting you shortly.

  • Is it really passive income if you are having to consistently create good content. It's more like a part-time job to create and manage a site like this. Creating great content consistently enough is not easy and quick.

I've always been attracted to the idea of achieving passive income in the manner that Pat Flynn describes it:

Income that you earn without needing to be present at the time in which it is earned.

Yes, it requires work and upkeep to maintain, but you can still "take a break" for an indefinite amount of time, yet the income will still be coming in.

This is opposed to "active income" in which you get paid X amount for X amount of work.

No it's not necessarily "passive" in that you don't need to do anything at all, but it's a different means of earning income then the way that most people are familiar with.

This is what I always aim to achieve.

And never once did I say it was "quick".

In my opinion, setting up the model is simple (just follow the steps in the OP), but I didn't always think that way. However, after repeating the process several times now, it's not too difficult for me to get a functioning website up and running relatively quick.

After that "chunk" of free work (which could take a long or short time depending on your knowledge of website building), it's simply a matter of:

      1.) adding content
      2.) building traffic

You can set a goal for yourself to spend 4 hours a day on doing those 2 things (and of course you can give yourself off days or work longer days whenever you want at your own discretion).

And of course with the OP model, after everything is setup and you are at the "add content and build traffic stage", you then set a goal for yourself to hit a certain number of subscribers in order to achieve your monthly income goal.

That is the "passive income" I aim to earn.

Some good tips for newbie but I don't think so that this is a passive income model, you need to work day and night to build website and then need lot of work to keep your website updated.

"Day and night" to build the website. Once this is done, then the "passive income system" is set and in place.

This usually takes me about 2 weeks, spending about 6 hours a day, to get everything exactly as I want it. I'm sure professional website builders could do it much faster.

After the "system" is setup, it's simply a matter of adding fresh new content to your site. However, once you reach the point in which your website is generating income, the "do work" and "get paid" actions are independent from one another. Therefore it is passive income.

Here is the plan for people failing....

    1) BUY a WSO, do nothing,

    2) Get angry

    3) Buy another crappy shiney object product

    4) do nothing,

    5) Please repeat step 1 - 4 again!!!

    =================================================

    Successful warrior plan.....

    1) Build [squeeze page] list

    2) Take daily action

    3) Drive copious amounts of TRAFFIC to squeeze page

    4) Help list

    5) Repeat steps 1 - 4 each day.

    ================================================== =

my first website was crappy.... i do not even know how to do HTML

    I am literally computer illiterate

yet! My first crappy messy 2 page website started off from $50 a day, and took it to $5000 per month.

Sold that site for $25,000 USD. yes!

People are working hard, and not seeing efforts....... you have to work SMART in 2016,, to see good results.

you do not even need a website, but it does help.

And remember the most important thing you will read on the WARRIOR FORUM is BUILD YOU LIST!

Having a list, or email list is the SINGLE most important asset to your business/s

without a list, you might still do ok, but you will not CRUSH it online, like you see the stories.

Soon as I started building a list, my income doubled, tripled, and then I was making more than my parents combined. So remember if you are confused, and want the single best piece of advice, BUILD YOU LIST....do it now, today, and do not concentrate on much else, and you will do better than in your wildest dreams.

Hope this does help someone, somewhere in the world.

    - Celente.

What I like about this system is that it is totally scaleable, and a matter of process. If you get locked into a system of producing content routinely for your member site, it gets easier and easier. You can scale this business b/c it's all digital and you do the same amount of work for one member at $27 as you do for 100 at $2700. So build it, keep the content building up and then just never stop driving traffic.

Thanks for the sharing. I think that in order to make $2000 per month consistently, you need to look for a built for you system or funnel that has the following 5 elements:
    - a free offer
    - a front end offer ($5-$20$)
    - upsell offers ($40-$100)
    - a recurrent membership offer ($47-$97 per month)
    - a high ticket offer ($1000-$5000)
This model is a sustainable business.

In my opinion, this model is a lot more difficult to setup then the way I do things. Maybe that's just because I don't have experience doing it.

My model operates solely on the fact that my content is good enough that people will actually want to pay for it.

I make sure that what I'm selling is excellent stuff that is exactly what they are looking for. I go above and beyond so that they really feel like they got a killer deal.

I'm not disagreeing, but I just don't have experience in setting up a model like you suggested. I don't have any ideas that I could sell for $1000 or $97/month.

I answered your questions in previous replies in this thread. As to why I don't make this a WSO...because I don't have any intention to sell things on this forum and I'm not interested in the MMO niche.
