Best Places to Give Away your New EBook for Free?

I've been umming-an-arring these last few days with what to do with my new Nootropics Guide for Newbies.

I listed it on some closed facebook groups each with 10k+ members and had some great feedback with a few personal shares by some avid noots.

But I really wan2 get it out there like "now" but struggling to route out people with lists plus I'm unsure how to monetize it should I strike up a jv.

Right now there are some aff links towards the end which go onto recommend a few reliable suppliers which are growing steadily with clicks but I feel if I can launch it for free on some decent free sites then aff referrals will grow quicker.

I'm having trouble though digging out free ebook distributing platforms that allow the ebook to stay as-is.

Just curious if anyone could advise of some decent free platforms to list ebook for free.

Thanks all

Try contacting bloggers in your niche and asking if they will share your ebook on their site.

Thanks - yes - I have been doing that - only one reply as yet. If I'm to share it with them though what's their incentive?
I'm trying to figure out why they would want to share it without a monetary incentive.
Split commissions through affiliate sells perhaps?

If your ebook has good, quality content in it and not just an obvious sales pitch the incentive for the blog owner to give it away it that it provides value to his readers which will in turn help him to keep his readers interested in his blog. That's the incentive

That said, did you merely send them a message and ask them if they wanted to give your book away or did you give them a link to download it too? If you didn't provide a link for them to download it right off the bat, then they probably didn't want to waste their time with you. If you tell someone you have a free ebook for them to give away to their clients, give them the ebook, don't just tell them about it.

    Hey rob34,

Try to get targeted traffic by sharing your ebook to forums associated with your niche.

You can a "Free Giveaway' type of post.

I am sure you have higher chances of getting the right audience this way.

Another idea would be to upload your ebook on a torrent website with relevant keywords and keep seeding it.
This will also provide increased credibility in the long run.

    Cheers.

Thanks, yes - had totally forgotten about torrenting - is it still a credible way for people to feel they're getting free decent reading material? I'll put it out there.

Forums, yup - I'll explore there.

  • Set up a Sqeeuze Page and Order a Solo Ad.

From that point on you can bond with your subscribers on a consistent basis
and perhaps even monetize if you want to.

You already have some great recommendations but I'll still try to add a new one. Make a list of the biggest publishers on your niche. Check JVZOO and Clickbank for example and see the best seller products on your niche. Contact them to see if they would like to share your ebook on their email list.

These guys have the biggest email lists on your industry. If it works out you can have thousands of readers instantly.

Thanks - sadly the Nootropics niche is sparse in CB and jvzoo - but the search term still on the rise.

Thanks for your tip although it has in part been mentioned - i,e to route out people with big lists in same niche.

Question I've asked but has yet to be answered and relates to your tip are what are the marketing incentives that people use when offering to share their product with people with big lists.

For example: Hi there, I've just completed my latest xyz product and wondered if I could share this product with you and your subscribers and in return???

Just a thought but have you considered turning your book into a Kindle eBook?

Don't know if it's suitable but if it is you could also include an 'Offer Page' in the book to capture emails.

Also, if it's good enough for Kindle, get it into paperback as well. CreateSpace is your friend there.

If you really want to keep the book free and just generate traffic etc. then ignore CreateSpace but still put on Kindle. If you also get your book listed on Draft2Digital for $0 and then email Kindle (KDP) saying you want a price match to zero (and give them the Draft2Digital details!) then your book will be listed on their free for life.

    Could be an option?
    Cheers

Good question, sorry you're not allowed affiliate links in Kindle books.

It's discussed a bit more HERE.

All the links in my books are for list building, send them to my website or blog page etc. No problem with these links although Apple sometimes doesn't make them clickable on iPad/iPhones....just what they do!

If you still want to use Kindle books to drive traffic to your list/site then I would advise having the URL typed in full in your book. At least then anyone can get to your offer without clicking Apple 'dead space'.

        Cheers

        Jon

I go on twitter and use the hash tags #FREEBOOK, #FREEKINDLE #KINDLEPROMO to have my views ramp up. Key is to gain more exposure. Authors tend to forget this one. Remember that twitter cost your no money. Post your book's cover image. Also, please add the URL amazon gives you. Best of luck on your new promo.

Contact other authors in your niche and pay them for a solo ad

Since they are not professional solo ad sellers, you should be able to get a decent deal.

    You can distribute them on:

    - Kindle
    - Smashwords
    - Your website as a form of a viral campaign, or "feel free to distribute this on your website"
    - After a referral from one of your email subscribers
    - In the signature on an appropriate forum in your niche
    - Free ebook directories
    - Facebook fan page
    - Twitter

Have you thought of renting mailing lists of people that actively purchase supplements?

You know there are a lot of folks that don't believe in the niche and who claim that such products have never been scientifically or medically shown to enhance the brain's power.

So to market to the general public (on ebook and file sharing sites) is not really targeting your audience.

That's why I suggest getting your book to those who have already proven that they will purchase supplements.

    Seems pretty logical to me.
