This one small thing determines your outcome

Inaction is the real cause of IM failure

So many people ask the same questions here over and over.

It is the same in all the sub forums.

What shopping cart should I use?

What niche should I enter?

What payment processor is best?

What is working right now?

It is one thing to ask about such basic things but really these questions have been answered over and over and all it takes is a simple search of the forum and google to find out the past posts and opinions.

The real killer of any success is the INACTION of people whilst they are trying to figure out all the mundane stuff.

Success whether it is in the IM field or just any business really comes down to taking action.

That first action might be as simple as changing your beliefs.

Beliefs guide everyone whether they realise it or not.

Set your alarm clock and get up with a mindset to take action.

All business owners must have a “SELF-START” mechanism ingrained in their psyche.

If you can’t self-start then you need to go back to the mothership for an umbilical re-implant.

Successful people in all walks of life understand that they succeed because “THEY DO

Learning how to do something is part of the equation but the most important skill in this area is to learn

“How to find the information”

Today you have Google, Youtube and a whole wealth of resources at your fingertips.

Use those resources.

If you can’t use those resources first before you come to a forum and ask the same question that has been asked over and over then that is where you must start.

Learning how how to search for the information.

Don’t be lazy.

If you search your question in google first and there are helpful answers don’t waste your time here.

If there are no answers for your question then ask for help in a respectful and considered way.

When you get an answer or few then take action.

Change your beliefs about what you can achieve and then set your personal alarm clock.

If you cannot get started or motivated to make progress towards one goal then any form of self-employment - online or offline - is out of your reach.

You need to start and then take action before you make progress and eventually success.

Best regards,

Ozi

    Along with laziness and stupidity...

Unfortunately that's never going to change.. There are so many clueless people joining everyday who either can't or don't know how to do their own research to find basic answers...

Again good advice but trust me this is beyond the capabilities of some people, they need to be spoon fed...

I keep saying it to the consternation of the die hards, IM/MMO IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!

I just watched the end of an interview with Tony Robbins on a news network and was reminded of advice given (and often ignored) here.

He was asked what things most often lead to failure rather than success for entrepreneurs and he said it's not a hard question to answer. He listed three things:

      1. Expecting success in months or a year and not planning for a decade instead. He said the short term dreaming yields disappointment and people quit.

      2. Failure to focus on the core of your business rather than jumping from one bright idea to another....and failure to KNOW and UNDERSTAND the numbers in your business.

      3. Conquering the fear that leads to failure to ACT - fear of failure, of success,of looking stupid to others. Gaining control of your own psychological/emotional reactions.

Such simple concepts and yet it seems when advice here contains such common sense, the answer back is often "yes, but...." and we're off to the excuses....

    Great share, Ozi.

I've gotten quite a few PMs here from people who want to know "how to do" a lot of things that could be figured out with a few searches on Google or YouTube.

It's interesting to see how people try to sell information products while not being willing to find information themselves.

With that being said, your point about inaction is something any would-be entrepreneur needs to swallow; your customers aren't going to find you or your product if they don't know you exist.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Also, these technical questions--"Which hosting should I use"..."Which shopping cart is best"--are irrelevant.

    Most things work.

But if you don't choose something, and remain in a state of inaction, then you'll never get anywhere.

    Also important is PERSISTENT action.

You do something, and it doesn't work: what do most people here do then? Jump onto the next shiny object.

    And go back to zero.

What you should have done is find out why your first action didn't work...and take action to make an adjustment to try and fix it.

    And keep persisting.

THAT'S how you come up with a winner. Not expecting perfection off your very first try.

      Persistent action or consistent action.

Today I was looking at a great day from a weather perspective but I'd made a commitment to first do one section of 5 components for a project I was working on.

I knew I could leverage my brain into producing another component to get the job done because there was a natural reward waiting.

Too often people want rewards immediately.

TAKING ACTION is what will determine one's success or failure.

Asking all those questions are just ways to procrastinate and avoid facing your fears ....

It all starts in the mind ... MINDSET is where's it's at!!!!

Set your mind on taking action and accomplishing a goal and, more often than not, you will do just that. Be persistent and determined to move forward (and not start over with the next bright, shiny object).

I also believe, that most people who start on this journey are overwhelmed with the information they get. They tend to try everything that is told to them and then they end up doing nothing completely.

IMO, crediting any one thing as the sole determiner of success or failure is pretty simplistic . . . and Internet business is anything but.

Certainly taking action is one of the pillars of success, but IMO, it doesn't stand alone as the only thing that determines whether you'll make it or not.

Here are a couple of reasons why:

    1. You can take all the action you want, but if that action doesn't lead to the results that you're looking for, then of what use is it? You have to take the right action for the situation and many people don't do that.

    2. Lots of people take action, see no results, and quit way to early. Sometimes it takes a period of time to get traction in your business. So the action you take must be sustained over the long haul.

    3. I have know people to take action for many years, all to no avail. What was the problem? The product or service that they were pushing was not what the audience wanted. They loved their "baby" (their own creation in the niche) but no one else did and the business failed. It certainly wasn't due to inaction.

    4. Some entrepreneurs put all their action into a niche that is a very tough sell. They go into niches where money doesn't flow - where there is already ample free and easily obtained information. Again, action is taken but the niche is all wrong.

While I certainly agree with the premise that action is critical, I think that it is wrong to state that it is the one thing that determines your outcome. Rarely, if ever, does success or failure hinge on just one thing.

    Thanks for the thread,

I absolutely agree with you on all of your points Steve.

It's when there is a clear path that many other people have already provided and shown to work that I most see inaction and procrastination.

It is a combination of things but once the decision to go a particular way has been made there needs to be focus and sustained action towards getting things to a point where the possibility of earnings commence.

So inaction may not be the one thing but without it no progress is made.

In business we are always growing either upwards or downwards and taking action in the right areas whether to change the business circumstances or to change course and do something else is always required.

      Best regards,

      Ozi

I often have to laugh at some of the answers here like the guy who was talking about stupid people and I agree I interact with people sometimes who I can't understand how there brains create enough electrical impulses to make them walk and talk. However I also understand how so many come here and ask what seems like a stupid question.

The problem is the internet itself and this industry, there are so many so called gurus out there with their ideas of how to do this or that and they want to charge thousands to join their programs, thats why people may come here.
They come here thinking they will get a clear answer to what they couldn't get the answer to in the web or youtube.

Also I don't believe it is as simple as doing a search on this site to get answers either as I have read many questions that no one who answered gave them any kind of meaningful answer.

So yes there are a lot of stupid people but often people have no idea where to start or how to start so they ask questions. When they do take action and it doesn't work they have no idea how to figure out why and I think that is one of the biggest problem everyone has. As we all know each niche may need to be tweaked a little or a lot from something that works well based on the type of niche it is. If they don't know how then they ask questions.
