So I just started a resume creation business. I'm doing direct sales going door to door and at the mall, but I'd also love to post online to as many sites as I could. If anyone could list as many sites as Im able to post to, I'd appreciate it! Thanks

The number of people seeking a resume service at any given time is going to be limited to those looking for work either actively or passively (looking to upgrade if the right opportunity presents itself).

So why are you going door-to-door looking for prospects? Why are your going to the mall? That's not targeted at all.

You need to find concentrations of your perfect prospect, not a random one here and there.

Advertise on college campuses, online job boards, paid advertising to people looking for work, etc.

Surely you did some market research early on in your business to identify where your were going to offer your services?

What exactly do you have to offer?

Considering the scores of places online a job seeker can get a free resume, what are you bringing to this very crowded table?

IF you have something different, then maybe there would be better places to advertise, if it is just the writing of a resume, meh, carry on.

Try advertising on different forums. There are forums that offer free advertising.

Try using forums that have users who will serve as your target market. There are lots you can choose from.

To Steve and gjabiz, I agree that I should also focus on targeted marketing, which is why I posted here. But you underestimate the power of direct marketing. We made our client 18 million dollars last year strictly going door 2 door. So that's why I'm going door 2 door.

But I'm also looking for places that will just allow me to post to people who may be looking for resumes. I'm not too familiar with job boards, any good sites/forums you guys know i could go to post?

I worked for a recruiting firm for 2 years. Looked at 30-40 resumes a day... *mindnumbing... 99.8% of resumes that came through the door were black and white. So my difference is adding color. Once i sell them on the resume, i'll train them how to dress, act, to get the job they want.

If you join the National Resume Writer's Association you will get a listing in their directory. I gained several jobs this way.

If you hear of any local companies that are downsizing, send a letter to their Human Resources Director offering your services. They often pay a resume writing service to help their laid off employees.

Offer to teach a free class at the library or at a church. After the class many of those attending will still want to hire you to do it for them.

People create resumes on site like freelancer.com and fiverr.com. Essentially people that need resumes are coming to them. It seems like being a freelancer resume writer would make more sense than going door-to-door.

You can definitely start by sharing your services in your own website and on social networks. Linked in would be highly targeted to those services.

You can also advertise your services in Fiverr, Freelancer, Upwork, and other freelancing networks.

You can also try to publish in a couple of targeted blogs as a guest blogger, and that would allow you to reach more people that can be interested in your services.
