Building a Landing Page

Hi there

I need to start building landing pages ASAP, what would you guys recommend?

Should i pay someone from Fiverr $40 to build my site - Should i use WIX/Instabuilder - Or should i learn HTML and CSS and build them myself?

I really dont need a extensive landing page, just needs to be a frontpage where i can have my email subscription form and people can see what the offer is about.

My main sources of traffic will come from Facebook and various paid traffic agencies.

Coming from the web development field myself, I recommend that you should learn to build your own landing pages. It is a skill that will help you in the future.
You can learn the basics of HTML and CSS in 2 days. And you can find online a PHP tutorial that will help you build a working form in 10 minutes.

You could try using wordpress. Just search for landing pages and then you can download plugin that you wish to use.

It's a lot easier to use landing pages unlike the past years.

I always build my own landing pages, but I know how to do html+css

You said you need it asap, it will take a considerable time for you to learn html from scratch. You will get distracted.

My suggestion is to hire someone to do it for you, or use software or web service. You can set goals to learn html in the long run, but not now when you need it asap.

Btw, autoresponders usually offer hosting landing pages for free. I know get response offer tons of custom templates (they're quite good) ... also hosting it for free.

Get response is free for 30 days + free landing page = get started on your campaign asap.

    Thanks everyone for your reply.

I intend to use Aweber to build my list, and as i can se they dont offer the opportunity to host landing pages for me.

WordPress would be fine for me, since i have a little bit of experience in using WordPress.

I think for starters i will get someone to build it for me, and learn HTML and CSS on the side.

    Thanks again!

Hi OP, if you do know a little bit about how to set up pages I recommend you use some free html template for your page first. There are some great looking, mobile friendly templates out there, free to download.
All you would have to do then is put in your opt in form code from aweber and upload the html files to your server.

Best free html editor in my opinion is Kompozer - use it to personalize your free html template.

Once you got that set up I would get into Wordpress if I were you, and fiddle round with it till you find a way to set up, design and edit landing pages. In the long run a CMS will always be easier to use that html pages. Any CMS will do, if you already know wordpress then go with it.

No need really to hire someone. And if you do, don't use fiverr. The quality with most deals there just sucks. Go to the warriors for hire section and post up you job. Much better way to get quality work done IMO

        Hi,

        Thanks for the great response.

I will definitely look into that, and who would you recommend as a host of my LP's? I was thinking of going with Bluehost.

If you won`t have astronomical traffic numbers, you can go with Bluehost. I have used them in the past and didn`t have problems with them. Also, the free domain name offer is kinda cool

    Hey Oliver,

It all depends on how many landing pages you need and how fast.
If you need 1 or 2, then just go ahead and purchase it. Your time is more valuable driving the actual traffic, than messing around with HTML and CSS.

However if you plan to build a LOT of them, then it might make sense to learn the basic HTML and CSS as it will usually be enough for landing pages.

There are also monthly services like LeadPages where you can build landing pages without coding knowledge. Take a look, it might be suitable for you.

And remember, building landing page is the easiest part of whole process. The real work starts when you start driving traffic.

Always always test your landing pages. CRO (Conversion rate optimization) is extremely important and a lot of people neglect it. There is a really cool new platform out now called ClickTrait. With it you can change and test headlines, photos, text on any page you own and instantly see which version brings in the best results. (it measures click through rate, scroll rate and much more to determine which version is better)

So once you have landing page setup, don't forget to constantly test and improve it.

If you need any more help about landing pages, then don't hesitate to contact me.

    Have a great day,
    Klemen

Oliver, I have to admit that landing pages used to scare me to death but once you start taking note about how others layout theirs and then you find software that works for you it's pretty much straight forward.

Personally I've been using OptimizePress for a while now and it does help you create some decent landing pages (not to mention membership pages etc.).

Worth a look if you want just the one solution!
    Cheers

Is a $40 "investment" sufficient to power the key influx method of your business?

Does that seem a proportional level of value to what you are trying to create?

And you shouldn't have a single landing page: you should have at least two, to split test effectiveness.

Get Russell Brunson's "Dot Com Secrets" on Amazon/Kindle before going any further. That way you'll at least get a good idea of where you're going.

No don't pay anyone to do it and no you don't need to learn html. There are far too many great web editors out there for you to build a site that you don't need to know coding.

My thinking is do the first couple sites yourself so you can get a grip on how you want things done and laid out and what works and can be done.

Also if you do it yourself and it doesn't work or you decide you don't like the looks you can change things yourself in notime where as if you pay someone it could take weeks or months to get back to them to fix things.

After you understand more then if you want to pay someone to do things then at least you will know how you want the pages put together other wise you are at the mercy of your designer.

If you know how to use the HTML & CSS, it would be good. If it is not possible to learn the basic of HTML & CSS, you can hire a freelancer from any freelancing site. Nowadays there are many freelancing sites, available, you can use any site, which you like most. Thanks

The fastest way for you is to go to Google and find some landing page templates and then edit the template you like. Editing is easy if you know some basic html. If you don't know how to use any website editing software then just find the landing page template that you like and pay someone to edit it. It will be very low price to pay someone for editing the template.

This doesn't need to be complicated or expensive.

Use WordPress as your platform since you already have experience with it.

Google "free WP theme with squeeze page" and you will be given many options including a number of free landing and squeeze page plug-ins that your can use.

    It costs you nothing.

Hi, if you have money i say get Leadpages and never make a landing page from scratch again. Its not worth your time coding, you make money selling..

if you don’t have money download Kompozer or BlueGriffon both free open source wysiwyg editors. find a template that sells and make your pages like that.

the problem with making your own pages is you will spend all of your time creating and trying to learn how to add things like.. delayed buttons, shopping carts, pop ups etc while you are doing this time will be going by and you wont be making any money.

You can also use Wordpress and just make a static front page for free. There are Wordpress themes that you can use that support landing pages so you don't have to have a header showing.

The benefit of Wordpress is its easy to make pages and you can add plugins from Leadpages and Optimize press to make your landing page.

        Hi

No i took advise from a guy earlier in this thread and went on with Get Response, and for them to host my landing page, they require the domain to be ".gr8.com".

In my opinion it isn't that big a deal on the LP's i need done.

If you think that it won`t be a big deal, then you can go for it. I don`t know what kind of landing page you will build so I can`t give you a 100% accurate point of view.
But in general, I would advise you to use caution. For example, a page with a gr8 domain will raise some red flags for me and I don`t think I would input any of my personal info on it. But that`s just me, I may be paranoid...

HTML and CSS are super simple. You can simply copy and paste code from online.

The hardest part is figuring out WHERE to write/modify the code (using the Thesis Wordpress theme, this is very easy).

Building a webpage is pretty easy. Just learn to do it yourself. It's a useful skill to have.

You can begin with doing it yourself to learn how it works. What is nice is today you really don't need to learn or understand HTML yet it's still something to get the basics of. Many platforms have the editor built in.

Why I say it to learn on your own first one is because really it's easy (even though at one time I said never with a scratch to my forehead) and then you can qualify your work you outsource better. Internet marketing is all a numbers game. Improve your numbers!

If your autoresponder service have a landing page builder, use that.

Getresponse have a landingpage editor. So do Sendlane.

If you use WordPress you can try the plugin Landing Pages by Inbound Now.

Search Google for "landing pages + niche" and sort by images and you've got your design ideas.

      Thanks a mill,

I've used GetResponse after a guy told me about it earlier, the problem with them is that their page editor isn't very good, and on the 30 day trial you can only have 1 page published... Will give Sendlane a go, otherwise im going Bluehost and WP.
