Udemy and video course

Hi,

I am looking for a way to produce great quality video course

I look for Max Stryker style, Allun, ..., Kevin (clockwork recipe)....
They all said that you can 1) Record the sound 2) Add the content for video using Camtasia

I would like to know who is doing that (or not) and why?

Every time I tried to do screencasting with screencast-o-matic, the sound was poor (I have samsung Go Mic)

Please, share the process of doing the course with me ... when you already have the outline

Thanks for all

I also had sound quality that I wasn't 100% happy with using Screencast-o-matic. It did just pass the Udemy approval process though, so I wasn't too terrible. But when I used the same mic (Blue Snowball) with Camtasia or Audacity the sound quality was much better. I never did work out exactly why as I don't need to use Screencast-o-matic any more.

Wherever possible I record the sound and the video together using Camtasia because it's much faster that way and the sound quality I get is good. I could increase the sound quality by recording them separately but so far I haven't needed to do that. I also tend to do a lot of screencast-style videos rather than ones made with a camera as that suits my content.

So my process is to create an outline, break the content under each outline heading down into videos of 2 to 10 minutes in length, create a slide deck using PowerPoint, add animations, write a script and then record it using Camtasia. Then I edit it and produce the videos. After that I create any supporting material (PDFs, slides etc), the sales page/course description and upload the course to the platform.

    Hope that helps!

Try a program called "Active Presenter". It's very nice.

I also use a Samson GoMic, but I also have a Blue Snowball. Both are decent.

If you're using a good microphone, the most likely reason that you're getting bad sound is that you haven't told the software to use that microphone as an input. A lot of software is "dumb', meaning that it will default to using the computer's internal microphone, even if an external mic is connected. For example, in ScreenFlow, you have to select "New Recording" from the File menu, then click the "Record Audio from" checkbox and select the external mic from a drop down menu. Most microphones these days should be recognized by the software as soon as they are plugged in, but some may still need drivers installed. In other programs, the microphone input settings will most likely be in "Preferences", "Setup", "Input Settings" or under a similar command. Finally, remember to use a pop screen/windscreen between you and the mic if you want a professional result.

You may have to use Audacity for fixing up your sound!

Thanks for all. I was very surprised the other day with screencast-o-matic. The video I did: http://skl.sh/1TIbEL8
I just installed the software in the local machine... not using the online version. For any reason i don't know, the sound is better
    thanks!

    Hello,

The problem is not about the software you use, but the microphone quality that you are using.

I also use screencast-o-matic and can tell you if you got a great mic you will have an awesome quality sound recorded, if your mic is of low quality you will notice in any software.

When i started to make videos, i only used the mic of my Imac and all the noises that were inside the room where i was recording appeared, then i have upgraded to an IRIG HD and all of that was gone. Sure the mic is a bit expensive for who is starting but I think like this, I need to invest in myself and my business. So if cannot afford on that how will i succeed?

i think this one cost me around 130 EUR or something but is fantastic.

    Kind regards,
    Morg

Getting a good microphone is the secret sauce. Audio is important for a good course. I have a great expensive mic. Consider this investment as you move up. Frankly, we all hate courses were audio is poor.

    Need to get:
    • camtasia
    • expensive mic
    • good video camera

You may have to use Audacity for fixing up your sound!
I do agree. Try to boost volume and remove noise. Best of luck to you.
