I was trying to install my google adsense code into the sidebar.php on my Wordpress blog but when I refreshed my site I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE. Something like syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/cannotdisclose/public_html/wp-
My sidebar has gone!

I thought I could find/solve the problem:rolleyes: but couldn't, here is what it says now Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting '(' in /home/cannotdisclose/public_html/wp-

Can anyone offer some help or advice on what to do?

Thank You,

I can help. This has happened to me with customized themes when I use the wordpress backend to edit the sidebar.php file. If I download it via ftp and edit it with an html editor and then upload it to the same directory, it works fine.

      Hi.

It might be easier to just upload your original sidebar.php so you can get back to a stable state.

If you are modifying your sidebar.php file directly for Adsense, you might want to instead consider adding a Text widget to the sidebar and then putting your Adsense code in there.

Also, you can try the Adsense Deluxe plugin to simplify adding Adsense to your posts too.

      Hope this helps.

I'm really new at this and I'm not very technical. How do I do this? Could you break it down a little for me please?

      Thanks again!
