On average, how many clicks does your signature get?

Hey Warriors!

I am doing a little research for a project of mine, and was wondering if some of you guys could help me?

Basically I am covering different free traffic methods, and how effective each of them are.

One of them is of course the good old fashioned signature link here on warrior forum (which I have deactivated to ask this question).

"On average, how many clicks does your signature link here on the Warrior Forum get per day?"

Mine is usually around 20 a day, with minimal posting (normally just asking questions like this I actually want to ask).

Thank-You very much for any and ALL input guys (and girls!),
Martie"

Hey Martie, I get around 20 to 25 clicks a day.

That's with about 6 to 10 responses / comments a day on recently started threads.

The most I've ever gotten in a single day was 39 clicks.

A couple of years ago, it would have easily been double or even triple that number but the Warrior Forum's traffic has tanked a lot in recent times.

Best of luck to you with your research project.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Thank you very much for your reply, that's awesome... do you think you're image really makes a difference in that number?

I can't speak from data-based experience as I've never had a signature link without an image.

However, speaking from my experience as a marketer in a few other niches, I'd definitely bet that it does help get some clicks.

After all, it stands out (it's a bright honking green) and really catches people's attention, while making an offer that would appeal to someone who still hasn't figured out how to makes their first bit of money online.

I assume you're asking this for the sake of whether or not you should have your own image.

If that's the case, let me leave you with some things to bear in mind.

The traffic on this forum doesn't convert as highly as I would have initially expected – then, I looked at some of the traffic stats here: warriorforum.com Site Overview

As you can see, the bulk of this forum's traffic probably comes from India, which would be very low-converting traffic in terms of sales as they don't have as much money as people from First World countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.

Another thing to note is this; if you're building a serious business in any internet marketing related niche, do NOT link straight to a blog post with affiliate links like I do.

Direct traffic to an opt-in page and build your email list.

I don’t want you to assume that just because I link to a blog post that it’s a good way to make money from the traffic you get here.

The money I make from my signature link isn’t much and that’s expected, considering I’m not building a list here.

However, if you decide to build a business in the internet marketing / make money online space, then go ahead and get a signature image, and link to an opt-in page of sorts so you can build a list of leads – you’ll make far more money that way.

I just have a signature link because I had the money to toss around and I would "waste" time on this forum anyway.

        Regards,
        Daniel

            Spam.

Somehow, my site was found by spammers and I started getting a bunch of spam comments.

I actually made that blog a few years back but I never used it as it was supposed to be an online journal of sorts.

As you can tell, I neglected that idea.

I'd like to see some proof of the numbers being mentioned in here. I have many posts on this forum, many posts in threads that continue to get search traffic, and while I have received 100+/day before, it isn't the norm. In fact, the average is maybe 5 per day now. 25/day is a bit surprising to me, but maybe different parts of the forums are better than others.

A few years back it would be more, but WF has lost a ton of traffic in the past year.

So I added my signature link to my tracker service (Tracker.ly) yesterday.

It is highly dependent on a few key factors.

    1) How often I post.
    2) Where I post.
    3) How relevant the thread is to my signature.
    4) Amount of traffic to the thread.

But it's definitely more than 20 clicks per day if all 4 of the above are covered.

Chiming in from the consumer side - I buy product, read freebies, join mailing lists, click through on signatures all the time. It's how I keep up with what's going on. Sort of like reading an IM newspaper.

There are comments in this thread about the lack of signature click-through's. Well, the truth is that many, many signatures contain typos and poor grammar, do not work, take me to horrible landing pages that are poorly written, poorly designed, and contain broken links and sign-up forms that don't work.

All the above go directly to attacking trust, and trust is all you've got.

Besides that, it's hard to create a compelling signature.

Most are sigs in this forum are lost in the posts because the type and layout doesn't stand out from the posts, and bold click-through blue doesn't stand out either because everybody else uses bold click-through blue.

I mean, if you merely look like every other hamburger in a sea of hamburger ads, well ....

Someday I will be putting up a signature of my own, then y'all can come back and critique the living daylights out of it. That would be a wonderful learning tool.

Hmmm, maybe we should have a monthly signature click-through contest. Wake up the members.

Well I only just noticed after seeing this thread that you have to pay to add an image. I definitely support the site making money but I personally don't want to have to pay to do something like that. It would help at least if you had the ability to edit the font, but apparently that can't be done either except to make it bold or not bold.

Can't change the font?! Well, now, I suppose that's because they want you to pay for an image. I do click on images faster than text ads.

I'll go check to see what the fee is ..... Ah yes, $60/year. Well, even if the sig only returns $10 a month, that's $120 for the year.

I don't know who here is making even $10 a month from having the sig link in a forum like this where everybody knows that we are all trying to make money - including from each other - but since the time I've had a sig I've only ever gotten a few results and have never made a single penny from any of them, as in $0 total. And yes it would seem font editing is disabled to induce people to do that.

It depends on if I'm posting or not, obviously. When I'm posting, I get about 50-100 clicks a day.

When I'm not posting, I get 10-15 clicks a day from my old posts floating around.

Being as they are affiliate links which are against forum rules and have been reported, that won't continue for long.

The number of clicks depends on a lot of things. Mostly the content of the ad. I can put "make money quickly" ads and get a bunch of clicks.

About 98% are tire-kicking freebie seekers. This has changed a great deal over the last year.

My current sig. gets 6-8 clicks a day.

  • Are people really sure that what they are talking about are genuine clicks? For instance, I look at the latest visitors to see if that is so. There can be lots of traffic, but not necessarily bona fide real people clicks. Is it possible some people think they are getting clicks when all that is really happening is bot traffic for instance?

      Good point.

However at the moment I'm tracking everything (going a bit tracking link mad to be honest!) and quite a few of my clicks yesterday signed up to my list!

It does raise a nice question though, if a click-through results in no action, how do you distinguish between a bot and not!

      Cheers

I'll give you a case in point - mine. I just checked my latest visitors. There is a bunch of "nonsense" traffic, but other than my own there is only one single real link from here for someone in New Jersey, USA. Honestly, that seems a bit ridiculous to me. Who would not be interested enough in what I'm saying to not want to at least take a look? If it were me, I would. But apparently people are just not interested in finding out possible "highest paying" programs that are not only free to join instead of wanting you to pay for them, but where you can also make up to $60,000 for a single deal. Does that make sense to you? So honestly, if mine doesn't get much action, I seriously doubt all these claims some people are making about how many clicks they get are accurate. Not that they are necessarily intentionally lying, but that they may just be misunderstanding what they think is bona fide traffic from here.

I do think the somewhat sleazy sigs wil get more clicks. The MMO crowd is just conditioned to do that. You know, the ones that purport you will make 10K on autopilot.

Never felt I could sleep very well doing that. But some people can. I guess sooner or later in the funnel process the one clicking on the Sig will figure out the quality of the Marketer.

    Well, hopefully !

A few basic things you can do to increase clicks on your sig

Post more often /be more active
    Post quality posts & responses
Post in relevant threads that match your signature/offer
Play with your sig link wording/copywriting (test & track)
Upgrade and add an image to your sig

There are so many variables involved that I don't think TS will get the 'right' answer

First, what kind of offer are you pushing? Are you advertising a blog? That has its own dynamics

Second, what kind of text did you use? Is it generic or targeted to the forums you're on?

Third, what kind of call to action are you using?
