hi,

i am going into a new niche and writing an ebook about the topic...
i was thinking of a domain name...and it is not taken but the
book title is actually another book title on amazon.com which has quite
popularity...

don't know why the author didn't buy the domain name...

do u think it's better to create ANOTHER title or stick to this one...

benefits of creating ANOTHER title is that mine can stand out
as a unique title...

benefit of using the other title (also used by another author) is that
it gets many hits already...

what would you do?

BJ

why not set up a few free sites with the keywords and see if it generates enough traffic and interest FIRST?

If you check my sig, there is a way to get all the traffic and attention that the author gets without paying for domain names and hosting.

Whatever domain name you use...make sure it mentions
a benefit and a call to action....

Example..if you are selling a gardening book that will yield more flowers...get a domain like www.GetFantasticGardenNow.com

    Here's what I would do:

    1. Think up another name for your ebook and register an appropriate domain name. This would be my main site for the product.

    2. Register the domain name for the book title on Amazon. Redirect it to your main site.

You may get type-in traffic from people looking for the Amazon product, or you might just get an offer from the author to buy the domain. Either way, it's worth the $7.50 it costs for the extra domain.

Rob stole my thunder. That's the obvious choice here. Good call, Rob!

You know, I think too many of us (myself included) miss the trees for the forest too often. Type-in traffic used to be talked about all the time, but seems to be a largely forgotten concept in IM now. I'll bet there are a lot of people quietly making nice money from steady type-ins, though.

Now my wheels are turning. LOL

Hi BJ. I would avoid calling your ebook the same as an existing book that is already selling. Perhaps you can come up with another variation on the name or something which sounds 'similar'? You don't want to get caught in any disputes over naming rights/plagarism.

Be creative and see what you come up with.

thanks nathan...i think you're right...i will come up with a new title...
and end up possibly just buying that domain name and maybe directing to
my page or amazon page for affiliate sale...

coming up with domain names is fun but it can take hours if those
    names are all taken...

thanks everyone for your replies...feel free to post more ideas if you have
    any other ideas...
