Monetizing My Blog - Which Network?

I have a blog where I upload mobile wallpapers I've made myself. I want to try monetizing it with an ad network. I may use Adsense, but I'm wondering if there might be a better option. I'm hoping that if use the term "mobile" and list the name of the phone the wallpaper will fit (i.e. Samsung Galaxy s7) I might be able to get some relevant ads to display - stuff like mobile games, or ads relating to phone accessories.

Anyone have suggestions on an ad network that would serve ads that are more relevant and potentially higher CPM than Adsense? It would need to be a network that accepts sites with a small amount of traffic. Basically all my traffic, when I do get it, comes from social media.
Do networks which fit that criteria exist? Any suggestions?

This site is kind of my side project, and I'd like to make some money with it.

Thanks, everyone.

Are you charging for the mobile wallpapers or are they free?

  • Hi, didn't realize there was a response to this thread.

They're totally free. I don't think I could get away with charging for them. I wish I could, even just 99 cents each. Some of them are complex works of digital art.

Adsense it as about as high you are going to get for that particular type of advertising .

That's why so many peeps get massively frustrated when they do not get approve or get banned.

It pays out very well, relatively speaking

  • Okay. Thanks for the quick response. I may end up just using a blogger blog for this then, as I've had blogs get approved quickly in the past, though I don't know if things may have changed by now. But there's at least one theme in particular where I like the Adsense layout, and it's so easy to use.

Yeah, I know. It's better to stick with my own site, and I have one for that, but I can always use that later if I need to

With the rise of adblockers (~200Mn users) using adsense to monetise needs second thoughts. Its all over the internet that last year the ad blockers caused billions of dollars loss of ad revenue. You should look for other ways to monetise the site. Probably chargin per download is better.

  • Would you pay a dollar for a wallpaper? Everyone else seems to offer them for free. I don't think hardly anyone would, if anyone at all.

As far as adblockers, thanks, but I've been following this. My plan as far as that would be to have something on each page asking people to support my site by whitelisting it from their ad blocker. Not a perfect solution, but I do have the advantage that my traffic comes from social media, so some of my sites visitors will already know and like me vs. coming to some random site from a Google search. Hopefully at least some of my repeat visitors that were using ad blockers would want to support me by doing that.

What about monetizing your site with Clickbank or ad servers that are linked to Clickbank?

If majority of your viewers are using Adblock, then affiliate marketing is the way to go. You can embed links in your blog posts (outbound links) that when clicked and led into sales, you will earn commissions. That's what I do with my blog.
