Can a WP blog be installed on this site?

I have been to the oscommerce forum twice.
I have asked questions,had views,and no answers.
I guess they dont know how to support there products, and the users dont either.
Anyway, can i put a WP blog on my site, thats in my sig.
I dont have a copy of it yet and dont know how to copy it in my hosting account if i can.
I cant download it cause im on dial up and its to big.
So the blog install would have to be installed with no glitches.
And trust me,i would screw it up if theres anyway possible, unless its easy and i have some help.
Thanks,
Matt

Your site runs PHP, and uses a database. Unless your hosting environment is extremely out of date, you should be able to run some version of WP.

Your host should have a faster connection than you do. If you don't want to download WP yourself, maybe ask your host to download the zip, extract it and put the files in your account, so you can install it yourself.

A good host should be able to do it for you, and it should not take them more than a minute. It's worth a shot.

If you create a folder for the blog, it should not be a problem. If you want to blog to be in the root directory, it will be tricky.

Regarding copying it to your hosting account: That would only work if you have shell access. Then you could do it via command line. I doubt that you have that.

So, you need to download the files from wordpress.org and then upload.

I suggest to create a folder, for example WP and upload all the files to that folder. Then create a database and then go to http://www.7dollarebookshop.com/wp and follow the wordpress install procedure.

Thanks to all of you.Ive been asking for 2 days at the os forum and still didnt get anywhere.
Ill tell ya,the WF rocks.Plain and simple.
Im going to email my host right now first, hes great at helping.
If he wants me to do something i will,if not ill pm fifthdimension.
Ill download WP and put it in a folder to start with.
That way ill have it in case my hosting provider wants it.
Im going to sighn up with hostgator also.
But my other account i still have some free room.
So ill keep my site and blog on it since its overseas(cheapwebhosting-1).

You should be able to install WP without any issues.
The thing I would also recommend you to lookup is a oscommerc->WP bridge so that it shares the registered users.

If your host has features such as Simple Scripts or Fantastico, you could easily create a wordpress blog in less than a minute.

Right. It's in the cpanel. I am also a idiot as far as wordpress blog installation is concerned.

However with fantastico and simple scripts I am able to create a new blog easily and most of the time in less than 5 minutes.

Zoobie---where do i find my directorys or folders?
    Or,what do i click on,open up,right click,whatever i do to find this other directory.
    This space where it goes.
Also, would my blog have like a tab or link,or something in bold on the left top side where my links are automaticlly,or would i have to add some kind of script or code or something so the word BLOG would show up.

    Dark,what is DB user,Db name,mean?
I have a website empire dvd i bought so i have 80 WP themes already.

You mean all i have to do is click on the fantastico and it installs a WP basic template on my site with nothing else to do?
Does it include an rss feed also.
The reason im doing this is to try and get my site in the serps. With a blog. Then i can offer weekly specials and ping it,and also have an rss feed going since i have 200 ebooks in there from all different subjects.
I should be able to get links or rss to all the different ebook titles, right, maybe?

Dark, what about a link on my page.Does it automaticlly put a blog link with my other links at the top left of my home page?
The links are the title sections for my ebooks.Say for example:

    ebooks
    software
    website templates
    websites

Would this put (Blog) somewhere with the rest?

It does not do it automatically. However you can post the contents on Page instead of normal posting. You can then use a plugin such as Page Link Manager to manage the navagation links.

Ok,so after i upload or install the blog.Where does the link or tab show up to click on it?
Does it show some kind of button,WP sighn, tab,or anything.Or is it just another say page somewhere on my site and then i have to bring the link up by myself.
So after i install it noone will see it until i do something else.
I havent heard from my host yet.Maybe ill just go click on it and see what happens. The (fantastico button).
It will either work or make my site look like a bowl of spaghetti.

You can try the hosting in my sig. It has a button and links in control panel to setup wordpress script. No need create database, just click it and the wordpress site is setup for you in seconds.
