Outsourcing Rant: Have You Done This Before?

This is going to be long, so bear with me.

I don't know how many of you guys do outsourcing. I do, so I wanted to tell you about a deadly trap that many newbie marketers fall into. This trap will lose you a ton of cash if you don't avoid them, so read up

A while back, when I first started with Internet Marketing, I got really excited about outsourcing, so I went to various places and started hiring people. Great stuff. I got really awesome people working with me. The problem was that...

I forgot to profit from their work Can you believe that?

So I was spending money, without making money. Great business model, huh?

I guess the lesson from this is that whatever you outsource, make sure you have a profit stream set up so that your freelancer's work makes you money.

For instance: Don't just get a logo created and forget about it or abandon the project because you didn't think some things through. Plan everything carefully so that you make money off of that logo.

(an example of a bad scenario would be this: you want to get some software created and sell it, so you hire a programmer and of course you need a designer for the salespage or whatever. You paid the designer his cash because he finished the project, but you didn't think about the fact that the software would take 2 months to create, so now, you're stuck with that design for two months and can do nothing with it.

a good scenario: create the software first and while you're in the testing process (about 2 weeks), get a designer. Ask them to create the salespage as well as some things for the software (icons and such. Remember that the more work you give them, the cheaper the prices)

You know what I am saying?

Don't feel bad, I think everyone starts off without a solid plan. It's a part of the process. Every small failure leads you to success.

Well I think you managed to gain more then you lost (you now know the importance of planning + how to do it properly). I say get on that horse back immediatly and start your next project.
I'm using outsourced help a lot and can tell you that 80% of the time I'm pissed off at them but the remaining 20% (which do deliver) are making up for the lost 80%.

    Hey Morgan,

I am glad you realized where you're going wrong. Remember it's never too late. If you still have unfinished projects, why don't you go ahead and finish them now and put a halt on your outsourcing spree for the time being. I am sure if you do that and in the right way, you will soon make a lot of money and your outsourcing efforts will not go to waste.

Also, from now on when you outsource, you must have a proper plan and budget and you should try your best to stick to it.
    Hope this helps,

    Wish you all the success,
    Sincerely,
    Poppy

Yups, Better plannings give the BEST results. So, your planning should be fine. I am doing outsource with my internet marketing career. I do plan on what am I going to do for every week and then announce it to my staffs and get them done it. You know outsourcing is a kind of setting up an e-office (In my case:p)

Like any business, the old adage, Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance will stand you in good stead.

When outsourcing, always ask for examples of their work and always agree delivery schedules for completion of any project you give them. Then insist that they stick rigidly to those schedules (with penalty clauses if they don't). It's always better if both partners completely understand their peramiters.

Treat your outsourcers well and remember, these are people that you are dealing with, not just workers.

When you find someone that does really good work and delivers on time, treat them like gold dust and give them the odd unexpected bonus. They'll love you for it and you'll keep them longer that way.

Not outsourcing, but I've registered dozens of domains that I thought I'll develop out one day. I was very enthusiastic the day I registered them, but all of that fizzled in two days and now I have domains sitting in my account that are nothing but gibberish to most.
