The best freelance site

I have been contemplating on bidding for some freelance jobs as a writer on some of the freelance sites on the net and i had made up my mind on which one until i just started searching around the net for some tips on good bidding when i came across some negative comments about one of the freelance sights i was looking to try. This left me a bit discouraged....

One thing i do not want to do is to waste my time on sites that have issues so i was wondering if you guys could share some of the freelance sights that you have tried and tested. I would really appreciate...

You mean "sites", not "sights". Important if you want to be a freelance writer.

Don't give up so easily...people who don't do well with a site or program usually complain. People that are getting work and doing well on freelance sites don't complain.

A quick google search turned up loads of into about placing bids....I suggest since this forum is owned by Freelancer you might start there

Along the ones already mentioned, PeoplePerHour might also interest you:

I've had good experiences there and usually the prices reflect the quality of the work done.

Have you considered running an ad in the Warriors for Hire section of this forum? Then you can link to it in your signature.

What others have mentioned already, but you can also try both Fiverr and SEOClerks for this. What you earn would most probably be less compared to other sites but you can use these sites to build up some reputation, but also use these during a "test-period" for yourself to see if you have what it takes.

My 2 go to places are fiverr.com and upwork.com. Fiverr is good for some standardized work, like e-book cover designs. Upwork is good for virtual assistant tasks, as well as some higher-level tasks.

Freelancer dot com is the best.

fiver is by far the worst. Outrageous fees (about 48.65%) and a majority of crap spammers
and automated spam gigs which only sandbox your website and destroy your lifetime work

It is not important which site is the best one. I am sure every site has both good/ expert & bad/ inexpert workers available. There is no doubt about it. Personally I have been using the Upwork since 2011 while it was Odesk. Now the Odesk & Elance merge to the Upwork. Beside the Upwork, you can use the Fiverr also. Thanks

Awesome responses! Thank you! I have signed up on a few sites. My next question is some sites are encouraging me to take some basic tests for more job awards. Can i still get some jobs though without having to take any of the tests as some are requiring some payment first to be able to take the test?

I have been using freelancing sites for about 7 years now. I have used many sites in the pass and present. First I used to use odesk.com but they changed and I did not like they new methods of business so I changed as I have many other accounts else where such as elance.com, freelance.com and a few others, but "By far" freelancer.com is the best. There system is completely different compare to all the others.

One of the best features at freelancer.com is the milestones where hirer can pay bit by bit or all at once when completely happy and the freelancer can see the milestone that is awaiting (as once the milestone has been placed, the hirer cannot get it back without making a dispute when then freelancer.com staff will take a look into it further and from there will be sorted out accordingly. Plus so many more features for both the freelancer and the user doing the hiring. I hope this has helped.

It's not about the freelancing sites you want to join for fortune, but it's about you and what you can bring in it. Before you can show what skills you have for sale, you need to focus on your own personal. Show your face or professional logo and give enough information about your self that will engage some prospect. Also if you're not native English, you need to address this to make sure that you can perform at least a great English writing and reading as the communication can be done in text platform. Don't worry with the skills, as you can price your self accordingly. But people always want to find trustworthy worker above the skills. Those what make the price is affordable to prospects.

I always use upwork for everything. I used to like Elance a lot but now it has merged with upwork. upwork is a bit clunky and the site is very slow which I do not like but usually I find good people there to hire for various stuff. Christina
