A few questions regarding Article Marketing

Hi guys,

I will soon launch my new website and i'm planning in drip feeding my blog posts on scheduled dates using WordPress, perhaps 2-3 posts per week.

I'm new to this type of marketing, i would consider myself a product maker and know very little about marketing.

Once i have published a post to my website i guess the first thing to do would is to shout out on social networks?

I have a facebook page, should i advertise every new post published from my website on my page? Do i do this with all social networks... pinterest, instagram, twitter, my email list, e.t.c.? Is there an automation tool for this?

I'm also having trouble figuring out whether i should write my articles as an individual or a company, i want to provide useful tutorials, an example paragraph could be...

In this tutorial i will demonstrate how to create this and that. I have had several issues but i will fix that for you lalalala....
Or...

In this tutorial a demonstration of the problem can be seen here, to fix do this lalalala
I or We?

I want visitors to be engaged to my blog and come back, i feel like if i write the posts as me, I and not we, it would be better and more personal and using We (as the company) when discussing business and new products?

The articles will contain paragraphs, bullet points, nice images, typically a standard blog post.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

Cheers
Matt

Write as an individual. Go with personal... definitely personal.

As far as sharing on social media goes... since it's only 2 or 3 a week, if you feel like each blog post is worth sharing, then why wouldn't you share all of it.

It's always best to go with a personal style, address the reader and make him/her participate by using engaging phrases, questions, lists, and so on.

When it comes to social media, these channels are your allies so yes, try to shout out all your content. It's best to start with one or two (max) social media account and develop from there. So, find where audience goes and start from there.

I personally brand as myself. I don't want to pretend I'm something I'm not and I only put stuff out there I can stand behind.

Nice read Steve on your sig.

Thankyou for your feedback, how about product descriptions? should i stand as a company or as an individual, so far half the site stands as we and the other half such as the blogging is I.

If i update a product i would usually write a post stating something like "We are happy to announce an update".

Perhaps i'm having an identity crisis.. lol

I would stick to being an individual. Keep the tone friendly. No-one likes reading corporate blogs.

In the days when I had a physical product online business, I also had a forum linked to the shopping site and sent out emails to forum members. Always messaged as though I was talking to a friend.

So don't use the 'we are happy to announce' - actually talk about the product as though you were telling a friend about it.

You should write using "I" definitely. That is good for engagement of your users on you blog. Content can be published according to the need of topic. As in your case the articles are about tutorials, so if you think to publish tutorial on trending topics on the web, or about latest product or services release, then you must have to post more frequently.

    It all depends...
I personally like to make it more personable and use my Name, and brand it as such.

But like I said it all depends..i.e if I am a writing service that knocks out a lot of Content for sole business owners as well as mid- level businesses, a Company Name and Branding might be more appropriate

You should certainly keep them engaged through facebook & twitter. I have found pinterest to be mostly worthwhile only with niches with lots of visual content, such as food recipies or fashion.

Sounds to me your approach is definitely more personal, and not a B2B based service. So, I too suggest that you; speak to your audience as an individual.

There too, I am trying to "brand" myself or writings and future intellectual properties (i.e. books, reports, membership portal, newsletter, etc...) under my website name. Thus, the brand represents the writings and intellectual properties I am creating.

So for example, I post my blog posts as myself; Art Moran.

All my (future) books, training, reports, stories, and what not will be "Branded" under my "IMFreebird" collective works brand and logo.

It is definitely a daunting task, as I often feel metaphorically... to be building a bridge across a large body of water, which will enable people to connect to their destination more economically, and efficiently.

I can see the bridge, and have the tools and the skills to build it.

However, it is not "I" who's name I want the bridge to be remembered by, or my name on the bridge so to speak, it is the "IMFreebird Brand" of which I; the intellectual property creator will be remembered by... if that makes sense.

So, I believe when "communicating" your offerings, the process, or the means in which you chose to develop your relationship with your peers is definitely a personal matter, but to show them the "Vision" is where the brand should prevail.

Hope that helps, and may your traffic flow...

Write as an individual. People hate stodgy "corporate dudes". Be yourself and deliver the content, and get the money. Simple. Don't go nutz over this.

    Matt,

Here is a resource that should be studied by anyone that intends to blog:

    ProBlogger

Darren Rowse is the pro blogger. He has a site on blogging with lots of articles that are very good that will teach you all the best practices (for free) and he specializes in blogging to make money.

The very best to you in this journey,

Matt, Steve is point on about ProBlogger; you should spend time there everyday if you can. I subscribe to the emails and run over at least 3 times a week to get my blogger fix

In the meantime, post away! Just go for it and learn as you go by studying and applying. If you wait for everything to be just right, you'll never find out what your readers prefer to hear.

And Matt? I urge you to use Grammarly (free on Chrome & Firefox) for the basic grammar and spelling, but not to alter your style. There is no substitute for your personality - let it shine!

I agree with the personal approach as suggested in these replies. I always feel more confident in dealing with an individual than with a business. Just take a look at some of the signature links below the replies you got...most of these guys take the personal route to present their cause.

Just make sure that you do build a personal relationship with your audience, because that can make a difference at the end of the day.

It's possible to blend your approach. My own preference is to keep it personal, but if you want to represent a brand, you can do so by labeling yourself as "Matt Strange from Whatevercom"

Even the big companies are doing this on their social media channels.

Another thing to keep in mind is that "social" media is called that for a reason. Don't just blast announcements of your new blog posts. Interact with people, especially the influencers in your market.

Develop your network, and at least some of them will share your stuff to their people voluntarily, which seems far more effective than you shouting "go to my blog" all the time.

I just hate when a natural skinny person that was born skinny and can barely gain weight (ever) tells someone how to lose weight.

So as long as you are personally experienced in your niche and offer personal experience in your blogs. Then your audience will believe you and be interested.

So please remember. Your audience will know if you identify with them while offering good content. Or if you are just rehashing some regurgitated xyz.

    So good luck.

    Go with personal.

Post your blog post on your blog first, then social media.

You can even compile some of your best blog post and make them into videos and upload to video sharing sites.

Convert them to powerpoint slides and share on slideshare.com

    ......

    Hope it helps :-)

Whether or not you want to represent an individual or a company will depend on how you want people to perceive your brand. You really can't go wrong with either.

As for content marketing, YES. The answer is YES. Every time you create a new piece of content, you should be shouting about it from the hilltops. This means social media, email lists, and sharing with influencers in your niche that also may be interested.

My articles have usually been written with a style notably similar to "Readers' Digest". They would always begin with an engaging personal interest story followed by a more rigorous journalistic format with relevant citations from authoritative sources. This method has been effective in positioning my brand (pen name) fairly quickly within highly competitive niches.

I guess Authority websites do need a great deal of your personality. But I can remember Carlo Cab an 11 year old Successful Blogger who was smart and clever enough to let the majority of his blog articles be guest bloggers.

But the blog domain was his name.

He also created and promoted a wordpress theme and did very well with
I am sure he jumped on the speaking circuit as well to share with others of his success.

But I bet if he could do it all over again he may want to have a domain not in his personal name that he could have sold for a nice lump sum profit.

I think Flipping will always be in the back of my head even if it's many years away because I really love creating new projects. It makes me feel young all the time.
